Well it is. People not purchasing theme Isthe only thing that will lower the prices. Like it or not they are a business. Consumers are ultimately the ones that have to decide if the product is worth it or not.
It really is starting to feel like a freemium game without the free option. I think a lot of the complaints would die down if it felt like we were getting any benefit from the combination of these sales and our subscription, but even w/ the cash shop booming, it seems like we are getting more or less the same amount of content that we were getting towards the beginning of ARR when the cash shop wasn't as large. Yes, this is glamour. However, glamour has always been a component of the game and typically fills the gap left by battle content. If they're going to remove that from the core subscription and sell it for extra cash, it should be replaced with something.
Maybe 4.0/Stormblood will mark a shift in production, but if SE is still charging $25 for mounts, $18 for outfits and 5$ for emotes on top of a $12.99 subscription AND still only manages to deliver 1 raid, 1 primal, 1 hard mode dungeon, and 1 new dungeon w/ each patch, it might be time for everyone to start worrying about spending priorities because it seems like either a) FFXIV is becoming more and more expensive to the point that to even match the base amount of content, a growing cash shop is necessary or b) it's being funneled elsewhere rather imprudently.
Agreed OP. the items are definitely too expensive for what they are.
Some might think we never get new glamours ingame ...
I don't even care anymore. But what I would want is for them to be tradable. I know that's really controversial though.
I have never been a fan of this whole 'optional shop' thing in the first place. It's a subscription based game.
You can not sit there and tell me that they didn't have the money for that without the mog station. They're a multi billion dollar company that makes more than Blizzard.
But the thing is we are somewhat getting new stuff, may just not be in the form that everyone wants it to be, we are gettin new gauges on all just different ui setting different animations, gettin a new potd at some point, rumors of a third raid tier note i said rumors , also the squadrons system is gona get better which to make intractable npcs that can do any content past level 20 Id say prob isnt very cheap. I guess this doesnt really bother me at all as I come from swtor and I saw them do things alot worse this just seems like standard mmo stuff to me but I guess it bugs other people. It really is starting to feel like a freemium game without the free option. If an all-you-can-eat restaurant is serving 1000$ champaign as an extra and no one buys it... do they give that same drink out for free then or do they just don't offer it at all?
And what is the problem with 1000$ champaign if there are several drinks for free included in your all-you-can-eat?
Would you leave an all-you-can-eat restaurant, when you still get what you got before, but several special overpriced meals are added now and then which have to be paid extra for?
