Re-read my post, I was finally able to put the whole thing in one post. Yes, the graphical UI changes do not actually increase DPS through magically making bad players do more damage, its there to indicated job abilities and stacks and other such. The problem is, the players this is supposed to help, won't help them.

So you are complaining about the new HUD element? Obviously you can't help someone not willing to learn or put effort in but it can help those who struggle to keep track of a multitude of tiny buffs.

I think the addition of the HUD is a great thing to add some flavor to a rather mundane HUD. And as someone who can manage all my buffs and dots no problem I welcome this with open arms.

The UI changes aren't about making it easier for people to do more damage. However, if they're not so busy looking at/not looking at, or managing small buff timers and the like, that should allow them to focus on proper execution, mechanics, and the broader spectrum of what it takes to perform their given roles better. Anyone who has no interest in performing their job better won't be affected much, if at all by this, but to write it off as a failed effort from the get go is a bit too cynical. At least they're trying, especially when you consider there ARE people who have no issue performing well already. It would be a disservice to simply let the skill gap continue to widen without even trying to find a better means to close it.

As for the other things you brought up, those are completely separate issues, many of which are easily handled simply by paying attention, READING the various tips that appear on screen to explain things, asking questions to fellow players, and as much as people hate the feature, the Mentor system foundation is built upon having people who can simply answer these questions.

Oh absolutely not. As with anything there are defiantly some hard working people who just aren't at the same skill level but mean well. Easing the burden so they have room to grow while not affecting the max potential of pros I don't think is ever a bad thing.

Unless that somehow infringes on your superiority ego....

visual guides showing the main thing you need to maintain for a class is better than a little buff icon at the top of your screen. its a half hearted way way of doing it instead of just putting the rotations in the game and explaining some of the points of dps that aren't explained by tool tips will helps those improve within the game without having to use google. They should also teach rotations in addition to this but this is good a step in the right direction.

Not all players struggling with DPS are the lazy players. Your right in regards that this won't help lazy players because those will also exist. However there is a gap that exist whether it be for functionality reason or difficulty understanding that creates a gap that can be addressed to some degree. A lot of it comes down to how much information people can process at once and this comes easier to some people then others. More visual people will benefit from the gauges and trackers by not being so dependent on numerical status bar values.

You probably arent going to want to turn the HUDs off. Resize, absolutely. I was paying attention to the buff icon bars during the live letter/job abilities trailer and some of the information you are going to need ONLY displays in the HUD. As far as ability bloat, streamlining is going to help veteran players as well as the lower tier players. As a controller player, I'm super excited that things are getting streamlined. I've had to get really creative with my cross bar and on some jobs resort to using macros to make everything fit. I'd rather not do that. Macro's introduce a delay and I know that it has a hit on my dps. As far as closing the gap between casual and core players? I'm leaning towards thinking that this is going to fail. The main difference between casuals and core players is that core players metagame, min/max, and spend hours at training dummies perfecting their rotations perfecting their rotations. They math out every possible gear build to maximize dps potential. Casuals don't put that sort of time or energy into their jobs. There's also a shear talent discrepancy that no amount of game adjustments can make up for. Simply put, the discrepancy will remain because no matter how drastically things change, casuals aren't going to put that extra-game time in to catch up.

It honestly doesn't matter if it works or not.

Only thing SE has to do is make sure they do all they can to help the player base. But its not ultimately up to them if their efforts will be rewarded. No matter how much easier this game gets, if a player is bad, then they're just gonna be bad, until they get good.

These new HUD elements aren't designed to fix stupid.
They are meant to help players who already know their stuff, but are annoyed by the current timed buffs/debuffs system.
    It's just a visual help.

First, yes, gauges will help. I definitely find when I am on a class I am less experienced with, that I have a hard time tracking my whatever (i.e. huton/enochian etc.)

Second, the DPS floor is being raised by making rotations less complex (i.e. keeping up enochian in SB will be much easier than it was in HW).

-Where the * are the dungeons? What do you mean I have to do the main story quests? You can't tell me how to play! Questing is for noobs! If I wanted to quest, I wouldn't have spent all these months killing mobs in the world! And why does nothing drop loot when I kill it? I'm still in greys but I keep seeing all these players in blues, where do they drop? Besides I'm saving the quests for my alt.
-You know what the problem is with this game? I can't find the auction house in the major cities. I keep seeing these market boards, but the game won't let me use them.
-Wiping constantly to Proto-Ultima in DS.
-60 ACN: What's a job stone? Why do my heals suck? Why can't I summon my fairies?
    -Ice mages
    As for your point list..
-Raise the DPS floor (wrong, look above)
-What's a chocobo? -60 DK.. I have nfc what you are saying here
    - How does teleport work?.. It's been a long time, but isn't there a quest that teaches you how teleports work? Is this really a complication for people?
-Where the * are the dungeons? What do you mean I have to do the main story quests? You're kidding right? What game doesn't unlock things through following quests. It's pretty straight forward.
-You know what the problem is with this game? I can't find the auction house in the major cities - Really? It's again, been a very long time, but I don't recall this ever being an issue.
-Wiping constantly to Proto-Ultima in DS. - with the DPS floor raised, and rotations more simple, people can hopefully focus more on mechanics.
-60 ACN: What's a job stone? Why do my heals suck? Why can't I summon my fairies? - Yeah, I am not sure if they do the best job of teaching the job system. Most people get it, so it's got to be there, but I will admit I googled it when I first started. That said, they have said they plan to abolish the class to job system at some point (I'm pretty sure)
-Ice mages As funny as it is to talk about, I don't think this is a frequent enough problem to address. I've never seen an Ice Mage in all my playtime since I started in 2013
