Supply and demand, the rule of life. Seems people get lazier by generation and want the easy way out. Unfortunately it has affected this great game, no surprise.

It's pretty tiring arguing with people. It's not like anything you say will get them to change their minds, all it does is just make you feel upset and tired. Also people don't bother reading things that they don't agree with, forums with everyone arguing is just like a bunch of budgies squawking their heads off. No conversations going on, just a lot of nonsense.

It's a mix bag with all involved.

There's those that just want to hear an echo of their thoughts and beliefs, those who are bored that have nothing better to do (trolls) due to the 3.56 ---> expansion content lull, and those that look for a conversation or debate, but get drowned out by one if not both of the former.

It improves a little when there's content, but not by much unfortunately.

I don't know that there's an overly-surprising amount of lizard brain present. Also, for many people, it's not purely a lizard brain thing - they're opposed to things like jump potions, UI changes, optional items, etc., for very good reasons. You might not agree with those reasons, but they're reasons nonetheless. Those threads inevitably get co-opted by a few people who would rather vent and yell than offer up some semblance of rationality, but the posts do typically start off with a discussion.

As an aside, this behaviour is made even more likely by SE's decisions. They have completely catered to a particular class of gamer with FFXIV, and so there's a significant percentage of players who are effectively left out in the cold, not feeling as if their opinions make a difference. That's going to make them louder and angrier.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with your sentiments - I wish people would be more constructive, I wish they'd engage in debate rather than shouting matches. But I don't think it's all that surprising to see people reacting more instinctively at this point.

Most stuff they add or change doesn't really bother me. Nerfing relic weapon quests as you get closer to a new expansion where they are going to be only useful until you start the next one, for example. After the new one starts it's only good for glam anyway, or skipping a step like with anima's zeta turn ins. Potions don't bug me much, I just hope they don't get all the achieves for the stuff they skipped...titles and mounts and minions and things like that. Not that the world would end, but it would be kind of silly since they skipped and didn't do them.

But there was one thing that bugged me. Aether currents. I remember doing the the first 2 areas and having to climb cliffs in a blizzard and find paths through the wilderness to drop down on them. That was fun. I went away for awhile and came back and there were these big green glowing balls you could see for miles away at the side of the road. What the hell? You could get them all by accident. Where is the game in that? Are people so simple they couldn't actually do an exploration quest? Blew my mind.
