    Are role actions a nerf?



    The healer role actions are
    Cleric stance
    Break
    Protect
    Esuna
    Lucid dream
    Swiftcast
    Eye for an eye
    Mystery skill with the divine seal icon
    Surecast
    Rescue

    As a white mage I can already have at least 6 of these at once. Possibly 7 or 8 if the skill with the divine seal icon is replacing it, and/or if lucid dream is a replacement for shroud of saints (the icon looks similar and shroud is not on Yoshi's hotbar). Once role actions are added I will have to choose between 5 of them.

    I'm not sure what the point of making people choose from these skills is. Rescue is literally a joke skill that will never be worth taking. Why would they create a scenario where your healer in Dun Scaith can't Esuna the Doom off you, but they can pull you out of the meteor circles? Do they think we don't have enough troll players?

    Good thing we can change Cross-Class in the middle of a dungeon...

    Besides, having Esuna as a Cross-Role has the hidden benefit of replacing it with something more useful if the duty you're in doesn't need anything cleansed.

    We just have to wait and see what all the Cross-Role abilities do before we can judge a "BiS" for each role.

    But if you just had access to all the skills you wouldn't need to stop and swap. What is the point of making us pick? Now I need to make a macro for the start of every dungeon that casts protect and then swaps it out for something that's useful in combat. WHY? It can only lead to me being more annoyed by early pulls. There is no positive side.

    I'm thinking that, for Esuna at the very least, this frees up an ability slot for CNJ/WHM (who naturally get Esuna at 18 right now), SCH (Leeches at 40), and AST (Exalted Detriment at 18).

    I am slightly disappointed that Yoshi-P doesn't have Swiftcast slotted, though.

    This is a concern of mine tbh. I mean it is a nice idea, my friend was talking to the other "Oh now you can bait aoes and stand there as you dps and I can pull you out of it so you have more DPS uptime. hopefully it is a "beta" and give us more then 5 for level 70

    One friend is concern about no raging strikes but thinks the new ability is a combination of raging + quelling.
    What about brd without blood for blood and inner release?
    ^ for mch + hawkeye?
    will there be changes as far as how much damage things do? will there be more balance for AoE damage?

    Because having all 10 would be overpowered?

    We've been used to having all the good cross-class skills since 2.0 because for a majority of Jobs they only had 5 viable Cross-Class skills, sometimes less! BLM is an example of this. Even though we have access to 7 cross-classes, we only have 4 good ones. Hawk's Eye is useless, ruin is useless, and Physick is also useless but still has an extremely niche use.

    We just have to adjust to not being able to have all the good cross-class skills at once.

    EDIT: Besides, having all 10 at once defeats the purpose of the system in which WE'RE SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE.

    ...Am I the only one who's distracted by the fact that the slots are now levels 12, 20, 32, 40, and 48? Obviously by even the end of ARR it's a moot point, but it seems weird to lock players out of a third extra cross-class ability in Haukke Manor but give them an extra one for Aurum Vale, which off the top of my head are pretty much the only dungeons that are affected by a change like this.

    The pull ability sounds like a hilariously terrible idea. I mean I guess you could drag that guy who decides they are going to afk outside the barrier and leech a kill but there are so many troll applications of an ability that pulls.

    Maybe there are some heavy restrictions on it. I would hope they would have thought about that before green lighting it.
