Frontlines Vote Kick Abuse

Doing my Duty Roulette today in Frontlines Shatter. We are holding mid well and get fortunate with some crystal spawns. We are winning the match on 1500+ and the next closest team is 1350~. I end up getting caught and dying and respawn. I haul ass to get back to my team but on my way I am booted from my group and out of the frontlines.

This does not feel like an isolated incident, as I have seen the popup for people attempting to kick other players in previous matches, very frequently.

Why is this system allowed to be abused in such a way?

It is like one person opening the map and seeing someone near spawn and everyone else being just as lazy and just agreeing to kick without actually checking for participation. This is pretty toxic behaviour.

Is this the current etiquette I can expect going forward in 24-72 man PVP? If so, I might just have to tap out of it in the future and stick to the smaller PVP modes.

Having played on both the data centers hosting Sarganatas and Tonberry I can say that I've never witness an unjustified vote kick.

Not enough info. Common reasons for it not healing group, sitting at base, general complaining, solo base capping, solo kill chasing, excessive deaths, signs you might be a bot (ie. repeatedly dieing on mount). I see a fair share of kicks and almost always fall under some interpretation of this list. Some people have said not dpsing ice. But generally if you are moving around the ice and not dieing you get a pass, unless you have gotten into pissing matches with players in the past.

For more context, (I will try to remain as objective as possible, because I am genuinely curious why I got kicked).

We were fighting in the middle for most of the match and were winning. I was following our commanders calls up until that point, and was relatively uninterrupted attacking the crystals (as a Black Mage), so I had fairly high "Damage to Ice". A large crystal spawned in the center and we fought, but I was too close to the edge of my group and ended up getting caught and killed.

When I respawned, I noticed a smaller crystal spawn between our spawn and the next highest team and didnt see anyone contesting it on the map, with my team on the complete opposite side of the map. So I bee-lined for it instead. I was alone on one side of the crystal, and the opposing team had 3-4 players on the opposite side. They chose to leave me alone so I managed to steal around 20% of the points off of it. By then more had arrived on mounts and killed me.

I ended up respawning again, and instantly tried to find my way back to the main group. I had just passed the node nearest our spawn when I got the notification that I was kicked from the group. We were on the verge of winning at what I would guess was around 1550, with the next nearest team being 1300~.

It was a JP commander and my party was primarily JP based on the chatter going on in it. I did not say anything in chat other than to say hello good luck at the start of the match.

Did I get kicked because I chose to think independently and try and steal points on that smaller crystal?
Was it because I died twice within 2 minutes?
Was it because someone opened the map and saw me near spawn and decided to get trigger happy and everyone just blindly voted yes?

Looks like excessive deaths. Remember, every your death is -10 points to your team and +10 to other team.

But on JP datacenters it's hard to say, I heard many stories of people being kicked from duties without explanation just because they have E language set as their game client.

As someone who plays on a Japanese server I would say you were kicked unfairly based on what you wrote. There might have been a language barrier which led to a misunderstanding on their part which led to the kick but I've had teammates and myself sometimes get 4+ deaths and not get kicked. A lot of the time I'm even away from the main group as well either trying to steal homebases or being near small crystals for points if they spawn. From my experience with Frontlines on my data center the people don't punish bad players with kicks, even if they might dislike them and want to win. I've had over 400 Frontline matches and the only kicking I can remember was when 1 teammate seemed to be spamming chat or something, I couldn't understand what they were going on about so I just voted yes.

Do you have a chat log of what was being said in the match? I could try translate and see if there was a reason but from what you wrote I think it's fine if you just report them and move on and consider it a bad experience that happens very rarely.

I unfortunately do not have a chat log during the incident.

But if I recall correctly, there wasn't any chatter in party chat in the few minutes leading up to me being kicked.

From what you guys have said, it seems like an anomaly, so I am just going to chalk it up as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But kind of an annoying punch in the stomach for someone just coming back to the game after a one year hiatus.
