    Remade MMOrpgs?

    just curiosity, how many games have been remade like FFXIV? I know Ragnarok Online 2 has been remade but dont know if they keep players data.


    Do you know any game that has done what Square Enix is doing?

    no clue ...i do know tera won't launch in NA till expansion is done, ffxi launched with expansion as well. it seems to me that enough content is one where an "expansion" releases. i personally think all mmo's need to just stick with that but i guess first step is find a group willing to pay for development... then proceed as planned lol. good luck to that.

    I have no idea, but i couldnt imagine anything more catastrophic
    happening to an MMO such as happend to FFXIV.

    If SE & the Dev Team can get through this,
    i doubt there's nothing they cannot do. <3

    It's kind of an industry first. There is APB, but they took the servers down to retool the game, whereas S-E is keeping the FFXIV servers online while they fix it. Most MMORPGS that have poor launches don't have the resources to do what S-E is doing.

    It's a first. It's being built from the group up: New graphics engine, new server, new landscape, new battle mechanics....new everything. It's literally a sequel to itself in its own right, lol.

    not sure but i think the only reason they doing it becuase it called Final fantasy xiv i think if it was just called final fantasy i think they wont do it.

    They were going to call ff11 just Final Fantasy Online until they reviewed the story and thought it was good enough for the main series. The same thing must of happened for 14, and honestly the story thus far is great. That's why it's part of the main numbered series.

    So, if it's numbered, it has a good enough story, i think the story itself is playing a major factor into why they are fixing it.

    Other then FF14 damaging the brand name of FF. gotta fix that.

    They titled it with a roman numeral because the entries with a roman numeral sell more than the spin-offs, and the success of a MMO is based on the number of subscribers it retains. Numbering them has nothing to do with whether they think the story is good enough or not, and everything to do with maximizing profits.

    I don't know about "remade," but CCP is making Dust 514 -- a console "MMOFPS" which will directly effect Eve.
