zPlease bear in mind that I did mention that I'm not knowledgeable in building computers, so knowing what's adequate or overkill.... yeah I wouldn't know, hence why I'm askingI'm from the Uk btw, the psu I mentioned previously I've seen for £160, Driclone is correct in that I may add more upgrades in the future (gpu and memory being most likely), until I can buy a new computer. I don't build pcs myself but do like to get most value for money, and wouldn't want to go overkill...but like you guys said, it all depends on what one's setup is

I wasn't venting at you, just the ridiculous comments others have made about the PSU. Your current PSU can deliver 34 amps on your 12v rail. Thats enough for most GPUs out there, being the exception of some of the higher end nvidia cards, and some AMD (even lower end) cards because they're not where nvidia is on power consumption.
Before you sink any money into parts you may not need, the noise you are hearing, is it a buzzing or a high pitched whine?
