PSA: Beware of the Necro Threads

Public Service Announcement: Double check those thread and post dates.

With so many threads from 2013 - 2018 being dug up from the grave, it's important to remember that it's likely pointless to reply to someone from 7 years ago whom is likely no longer active. We now live in a time we have to check for the thread started by dates on this forum. Unfortunately, all these necro threads filling up page 1 on the forums is actually making discussion about relevant topics with active forum members more difficult as those topics get pushed to page 2.

I would report the offending person to moderation. If enough people do it they might actually deal with the trolling.

Frankly, it would be nice if the people/person doing it just got a forum ban. It's not exactly a mystery who is doing it and why they are doing it.

I started checking the dates a while ago since blocking someone only accomplishes so much, plus people feed the troll threads even if it's just to say "don't feed the troll". Just don't post in their threads.

There's a filter at the bottom which will let you adjust what posts you view as well - you can set it to only show posts created after certain time periods which would filter out anything from previous years.

Personally, I just report the individual every time I see a thread get necro'd by them.

Going to take a concerted effort by many here to deal with him. Suggest in the report that moderation check the offending parties post history to see how he's been necro'ing threads which has only been getting worse.
