less then half of the ff titles have superior graphics, spirts with bombed because there technology to produce the graphics was dated in the middle of production, and FF11 was dated at lauch. You did actually.
That's saying every game SE ever releases uses outdated graphics by the time they're released, which is very much untrue. Admitting mistakes doesn't mean they're admitting they release games with outdated graphics..
(XI wasn't a mistake though) As explained, Spirit's Within did poorly for reasons beyond graphics.
FFXI launched at the end of 2001 (beta) and 2002, graphics in XI weren't inferior to anything at the time. Spirit's Within didn't bomb because of "low quality graphics."
None of the SNES FF Games were outdated graphically, FFVII was a weird graphical style, but FFVIII and IX weren't outdated at time either. (Especially CGI cutscenes), FFX, XII and XIII weren't outdated either.
So I'm really wondering what you define by outdated, or are you confusing the fact as years go on graphics get aged -- Because FFVIII for example didn't look inferior to anything else in 1999 on the playstation.
ever quest 2 graphics were far superior to 11 and they released close to each other i think 11 release was late 2003 and everquest was 2004.FFXI launched at the end of 2001 (beta) and 2002, graphics in XI weren't inferior to anything at the time. I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
the release date was different for country's
its obvious i cant win an argument with the SE white knights even when using facts admitted by SE.(like not wanting to have a dated game by release as was 11)
by the way the US release is considered the real release the Japanese release was an extended beta test like why we have now with 14.
the fact of the matter is is that SE put everything into graphics so that the game would last longer then 11 did graphically.

But that doesn't change the fact FFXI was developed prior to 2004 and released in 2002, again prior to 2004, also:

Both are fairly "low" graphics for their time (2002 and 2004.)
