Isn't there a tech support or bug forum? It might get a response in a different place since this is general chat. The mods don't come in here often. We bite.
yes pls SE
The standard in most MMO forums I've been around is for stuff to be noted and passed up the chain if it gets traction but only respond if the topic gets too heated or in exceptional circumstances. This is because otherwise every thread starts demanding a response, which is impractical as the people making these decisions aren't the ones monitoring the forums.
So your best bet is to encourage people to have their say and the more that do the more likely it is to get looked into by Devs.
For my part, as a PS4 player I don't have trouble with this to the degree you do but it definitely does bug me and I'd be all for more camera options, so yeah I'm with you on this.
EDIT: just realised I was replying to a 3 year old necro'd post, so only my last paragraph was really worth typing. Yay.

Wow has a good no-move camera option. When you use it, your camera maintains it's position relative to your character no matter what you do. You can set it to show your character from the side, or front while moving without having to hold a mouse button or key. I wish I had the same option here.
If you set it behind your character, it stays there, even when you turn with keyboard or mouse.

I'm doing my bit to keep this thread alive. Please address this issue Square Enix. It would mean so much to those of us who play on controller.
Most modern games have this option now. I even re-bought FFXII on the switch (after already owning the PS4 version) because they incuded this option on the switch version. Even Final Fantasy VII remake has the auto rotate camera disabled by default - and I think most of us would agree is so much better for it.
I feel like auto rotate camera is becoming one of those controller hang-ups of the past like tank controlled FPS's (N64 Golden Eye anyone?) - we have evolved past needing it. If people still want it let it be an option to disable. Because those of us who find auto-rotate diminishes fidelity of camera control find we are constantanly fighting with the camera and it really discourages us from wanting to look around when moving.
I've seen how Square Enix look take feedback from the commuity seriously and I know it's a long shot but I really hope someone from the team see this.
Our noble captains of industry on Wall Street have all the poise and equanimity of a flock of chickens caught out in a thunderstorm.
I'm confused. I need to check my settings but I'm on PS4 and my camera movement different then my character movement. Like I can run in a perfect circle and my camera will not move unless I move it with the right analog stick. So I'm confused. Isn't standard more stiff then the other default option? Standard makes it so you can't run full speed in a circle cause you do some odd tank moment thing where you're locked to a view unless you turn the head. The default option on PS4 I find better cause I have complete full speed movement. Am I missing something? Someone please explain.
BUMP! The issue hasn't been addressed yet, pls dont let this thread die, i also think that if everyone makes a post about it maaaaybe square enix will do something about it
Is there actually another way to contact se and tell them about the camera?

new player here! im having this issue as well, and would love a toggle to disable the auto-adjust on the legacy camera. I found a sorta solution online... but it's only for pc! at least it illustrates the issue well.

Honestly though... i don't mind the standard camera! its just i can never see my characters face. so maybe a toggle on the standard camera to let you move the camera freely when standing still? then snap back into place when the character moves. ill be fishing with the standard camera and bump the camera stick and cancel the whole action lol.
