PS4 - Needs a way to disable the Legacy Camera Auto Rotate - Please

Returning to the game as a ps4 player I am really impressed with the port. The thing that is bugging me most, and making me motion sick lol, is how the camera auto-rotates around you.

I know on PC I used standard and clicked for rotating but with a controller you have to double tap the touch pad and hold, its a bit ridiculous to try to do while playing.

Square, would it be very hard to just add a check box for auto rotate camera with legacy?

    Thanks

Wait, as in the camera just auto moving itself? I've played on PS4 for 2 years and this has never happened to me.

In standard mode the camera doesnt rotate at all, neither by the player or by the game. In legacy it constantly rotates and its seasickening.

I guess a question would be, do most ps4 players play on standard or legacy?

isn't this the first option under the first tab in character config? it let's you choose between standard and legacy camera controls or something along those lines?

edit: disregard. have never noticed the camera auto rotating under legacy.

To add clarification to the OP's request I would like to specify, what is being asked:

He is stating, that specifically, when you move your character to the left or right only, the character performs a sort of a "circle", and the camera follows your character. Thus this "rotating camera" action.

I believe, he wants to move directly left, or right, as with "Standard" setting, but without the character forcing his face straight, and taking side steps as they do with standard setting.

Basically a full complete "character" and "camera" separation. This way you could essentially see a character running/moving naturally forward, from a side angle. Which is not possible with Standard, nor Legacy settings.

Yep. This isn't just a PS4/controller thing, either - on PC/mouse+kb, it's the same problem, but ONLY with Legacy controls. At least, if all of us including the OP are talking about the same problem, which I think we are.

On a mouse+kb, with "standard" movement (pressing S will make you slowly backstep), you can check an option in settings to disable all camera auto-adjustment. So this means that, even if you put your camera at whatever crazy angle you like, you can then run in ANY direction, strafe, turn, whatever, and the camera will not attempt to "auto-fix" itself. It will stay at the angle you set it at, until YOU tell it to do otherwise.

HOWEVER, with "legacy" movement (now pressing S makes you about-face and run at normal speed), even with the above option to disable all camera auto-adjust checked, when you are running, the camera will sloooowly re-orient so that, eventually, it is back to its default position behind your character. This is extremely annoying and disorienting as described above. I've always been a bit baffled as to why it's like this - there is a "disable camera auto-adjust" right there in the settings, but it seems to only work for standard controls. I've gotten used to standard, including lacking the ability to turn and run at full-tilt away from something; it once bothered me and I considered using Legacy to be able to dodge more quickly, but this camera auto-adjust while running thing was a deal-breaker for it. Fortunately with some practice, I made it a non-issue. I've gotten good enough at "right-mouse click and strafe with Q/E" for dodging that being able to use the "run straight backward" of Legacy wouldn't even give me a speed increase. However, I'm sure there are others who would appreciate being able to play in Legacy without the camera auto-adjust. And as I said, since it's right there in the settings, it's weird that it just mysteriously doesn't apply to Legacy for no discernible reason.

So maybe we can get this on the devs' radar? Would be a small change, but a welcome one.

Oh that! You mean how the camera slowly adjusting itself to face what your character is facing when you move in said direction. Wait a minute.... Isn't this how it works in most video games? This annoys people?...... I'm not saying anyone shouldn't be, I'm just shocked that it does.

Gods yes, the auto-correcting camera is a right pain. And I'm not even bothered by it for the same reasons you folks are. I just hate it while I've got auto-run going in the field. I'd like being able to pan around and take in the view, or have the camera hold while I try to click something while running, but it's not very cooperative for those purposes.
