The biggest thing I notice is the skill level of the players with regards to them, Monk is definitely one of the DPS jobs where you do have to know positionals and well.
Well in 3.0, at least in high end raiding environments, Other melee dps were favored over monks because while they had lower personal dps, their utility resulted in an overall higher raid total dps which is why MNK was not a preferred raiding class. Now that they are being given utility, MNK will have much more presence in high end raiding. So to someone interested in savage raiding, it was a potential issue going into 4.0 that has now be fixed.
