Thread: Thinking about transferring

I would suggest making an alt and playing there for a little before deciding to transfer.

I've an alt there and I've found in the Australian evenings the wait time for dungeons is 30-45 mins unless you select Japanese along with English. Weekend queues for English only though tend to be pretty good. The other issue I have is that the route goes a bit weird on me every 5 mins or so bouncing up to 600ms or more. A few years back my ISP offered tunnelling to most popular MMOs on request but various company mergers later and the service no longer exists.

My connection to Tonberry hovers in the range of 150-200ms - lag spikes up to 600ms+ regularly
My connection to the old NA servers was 200-250ms - lag spikes up to 400ms semi regularly (for some reason I never hit lvl3 ever so no packet loss)
My connection to the new NA servers is 150-200ms - practically no lag

In my case I have further reasons to be playing on the US servers other than just the weird connection issues I get now my tunnelling service is defunct. My sister lives in the US and I have extended family in Western Europe and we all play together on the NA servers which are a pretty good mid point for us. On top of that I speak both French and Spanish - where my Japanese is limited to the small amount I learned in primary school a very very long time ago.

Before you waste money on the transfer check out the server and play on it a bit.
