I very recently did trials roulette every day for exp and often got Ravana. Didn't see a single wipe. How about if you're having trouble with it, you start by asking if the people in the instance know what they're doing or need any advice? Then if there are newbies, explain the shields and adds shortly. You can even make macros with sound effects to use at the times you seem to have most trouble with. And you can also mark the adds with numbers to help your group to kill them in correct order.
Thok ast Thok is fine the way it is, and the problems you're describing is something that I rarely see happen. Not to mention that if a single player messing up causes too many swords to drop from the butterflies, then your group's DPS was garbage to begin with. Additionally, a lot of his abilities have a long casting time, and all of his abilities have a very obvious telegraph.
If you were to make him easier with the changes you proposed, then he would be a literal waking pinata. If that is what you're looking for, then you might as well go play WoW.
Ravana HM isn't that difficult of a primal. I would actually still put Titan HM above him as the majority of Titan HMs mechanics still can't be avoided even to this day. And he still wipes the floor with inexperienced PUGs. Ravana NM has a simple mechanic that we learn very early on: Kill the adds ASAP. What I will credit Ravana with is that this mechanic is very punishing if it is ignored, and because he has such a ridiculous amount of HP, it really sucks to start this fight all over again. Three swords will typically wipe the party unless they are overgeared and the healers are on point.
That said, I had a run of Chrysalis not too far back that could not be cleared. All because one simple mechanic was ignored, and that was kill the Aetherial tear asap when it appears. But nope, despite me placing a '1' marker on it, everyone still decided to run around like a bunch of loose feral Chocobos in a lightning storm.
If it just can't be helped, you might want to consider abandoning the duty. It sucks you've had difficulty, and that it keeps coming up. But just roll with the punches. It's roulette after all, and a total roll of the dice. You've just been unlucky.
I can solo that fight with my war.
Why not make a PF?
The only thing annoying about Ravana NM is the level sync to 53. I want to press DWT but I can't. :c
Doesn't this fight give you echo? If you wipe repeatedly, the echo would be the nerf of the butterflies.
HM Ravana shouldn't be this difficult. None of the HM primals (bar maybe Titan) should be giving too much grievance.
Maybe it's the luck of the draw on DF? It happens. I was fortunate enough to have beaten Ravana HM AND EX on my first play of them. I can't remember if HM holds the same for EX, but I know in EX if your DPS is good enough, you skip the butterflies. 30+ runs for the Rose Lanner got me so accustomed to skipping it that I had forgotten about that phase. :P
You can edit posts to bypass the character limit, by the way.
As for nerfing this already easy trial, how about no. The solution to make this fight easier on PuG groups is not to nerf it, because it's already easy, but to communicate mechanics in chat. If people don't know the mechanics, perhaps enlighten them on what they are. People not killing butterflies? Tell them to focus butterflies, not Ravana. Even simple things such as marking Moon Ganas gets most PUG's attention to attack it, not the boss. That alone should solve the issue of knockbacks during that phase. To solve knockbacks in other phases, instruct them on how to deal with his different parry mechanics. The mechanic of falling off and being out of battle for the rest of the fight is not a new mechanic either--that was present back in Titan normal mode, which is a level 34 trial. Just because it wasn't included in Levithan Hard Mode doesn't mean it should be absent from all other future trials. Most people get knocked off due to poor positioning; kindly instruct them to put their backs to portions of the wall, and to also be careful when handling mechanics that makes the walls crumble and disappear.
The idea to "kill adds" is a mechanic that has been present in even the earliest of solo instances, and is not a difficult concept to grasp. Even the first MSQ solo instance for each starting city state had a "kill the adds" mechanic, and the respective Scion NPC instructed players to do so (most solo instances afterwards also instruct players to dispatch of the adds before the larger threat). Also, one individual not contributing to DPS on the butterflies is not what causes wipes in that fight--more than likely, if you are wiping to swords, it is not the issue on one individual, but of the entire group, whether it be an issue of raw DPS numbers or an issue of people thinking they can push him and ignore mechanics (no, you cannot push HM Ravana like you can EX Ravana due to the level sync).
People struggle so much with a level 54 trial because it not only does not give those already at cap their full toolkit and full power to work with (which most get used to very quickly), but also because it actually requires players to do more than smash their faces on the keyboard. Same can be said for Bismarck Story Mode. The solution to success is not to just remove all mechanics because people are not willing to communicate and instruct those who are performing them incorrectly. If people are not willing to follow mechanics and continue to cause wipes, that's what the Vote Dismiss feature is there for, if it is really needed. Removing all mechanics most certainly will not provide any sort of real, long term solution.
Stop asking for nerfs. Learn mechanics, and follow them. It really is not that hard.
