Personally I am not bothered by the fact that Red Mage appears to spend most of their time casting spells because that logically makes sense. If the expertise of a Red Mage is split three ways, and those are to be equally represented, then a third of that time will be spent casting black magic, a third for white magic, and then a third for swordplay. We're left with a job that is casting spells the majority of the time.

Now that isn't to say arguments can't be made. If we're going by global cooldown usage, during the footage we see less than a third being allocated to melee weaponskills and that the disparity would further increase if the action used to increase current white and black mana values can't be used with a high frequency. So yes, I think it's fair to say the swordplay of a Red Mage is underrepresented, but I think it's fine that it doesn't occupy half of their time in combat. Yes, they could have pushed it further by saying Red Mage will spend half their time using a sword and the other half casting red magic, but that's stressing a demand for swordplay to be represented to a further extent than what should be considered acceptable.
