♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
There are too many real useful skill to choose as a healer (like protect, esuna, mp regen, heal boost) to bother taking rescue for trolling only.
It'll only be fun to do it with friend on dungeons maybe, but the 150s CD will not allow you to spam it so...
I think we are safe from abuse.
lol I <3 you ErryK
To OP, yes there will be people who troll, and those who will demand Rescue to be used on them and them only... for the former I'd tell them to pack it in (only in 8-man stuff, I'd be the other healer), try to resist doing it back to them because they're being a douche lol, or report/kick. As for the latter, just tell them that it has a three minute cool down, and that when it's ready, whoever needs it most will get first priority. In otherwords OP try not to think the worst, wait and see what happens, I had the same thoughts myself, not all innocent ones lol (pulling mouthy rude players into aoe is far too tempting devs, seriously lol).
Trolls don't need a skill to do that. They can just run to you with some meteor or equivalent on their head and drop it on you. Or they can simply mess up mechanics on purpose to cause a wipe. If there is a troll, just votekick him. It does not matter the method used for trolling. This move is going to be abused. People will pull you into aoes to troll. They'll also demand that you use it, and there will be fall out. Please make it so that the move can only be used so often. Perhaps it should be a one to two minute cool down, and maybe even usable once per dungeon.
If the Dev had to remove everything that could be used for trolling, there will be not much left to play
I've been playing SWTOR where there is similar Rescue spells, and for sure between friends in pre-made parties, we've been using it for fun to try and kill each other during non critical phases, but always "consensually". Any random player who would use it for trolling and messing up a raid would quickly get the boot and end up on the ban list.

The kitty said it.
Of course it will be abused when released, because it will be fun for trolls, just ignore them
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
They even put in a remedy for it by playing black mage.
Other MMOs have a similar ability and it is working fine for them. If people abuse it or troll simply vote kick and report. No one in their right mind would want to get banned and lose their account for such a silly reason.
If you ask me. I think the reality is that this will go the way of fluid aura for most healers. Something that no one will ever use for fear of pissing off the dps. Quite the opposite of what OP suggests.
You only get to choose 5 role skills and I think many healers will follow this logic "it's not my job to dodge your AoEs for you, so why waste one of my skills".

I played one such MMO and that's precisely the reason I don't want to have it here. It's an ability that's always annoying for anyone but the user and rarely useful, a lot like those mind control abilities some MMOs had. I don't want it to be used on me ever again, period.
I mean, I'll manage - I got a punching bag in the neighboring room I can use whenever someone feels the need to use the spell. I won't take my anger out on players. But damn, the thought of having this PoS spell in this game as well makes me irrationally angry and violent.
