Quick Question: Are all big fish locked before Quest: Beast of Brewers Beacon?

Do I need to complete this quest and catch my Navigators Brand before I can catch all other big fish or are they out there and just hard to get?

I remember getting the buff while trying to catch the Titanic Sawfish (first part of that quest), so I would suppose they're all available, as long as you have the stats for it, probably.

Pretty sure you can technically catch all Big Fish once you're able to. That may not be true for the Feast of Famine big fish but i'm not sure.

To be fair, it's not so much a flame war as it's 12 pages of people agreeing the OP is an idiot.

As I remember the Beast of Brewers Beacon is the unlock quest for big fish.

I could be wrong but the fish is easy enough to catch.

It's definitely not a requirement for Big Fish to spawn. I remember the first Big Fish I caught being the Caterwauler, which is one of the easier Big Fishes.

my question is if the fishes needed for Beast of Brewers Beacon and Feast of Famine are locked until you started the quests.

But why would you want to catch them without having those quests flagged first? I'd be damned to have to catch them twice. *wrings fists*

The only requirement to catch any of the ARR big fish, is the minimum stat requirement. You can safely start fishing for them without finishing the Beast of Brewers Beacon beforehand.

You don't need to have the quest active to get credit for them, since the objective is based on turning in the fish, rather than actually catching them.

Ah, was it like that? I only really remember having the quest flagged first and then I went to catch them. Was years ago. XD
