You're not a winner cause you have all classes on lvl 60, you just have patience. It doesn't require much skills to get all to 60. And you shouldnt let what others do, bother your own personal achievements
Meh. I'm mostly indifferent to it. Would I prefer that everyone play through the story? Sure, I think it's a good story (for the most part) and is worth doing. But to be fair, not everyone has that much time to play, period. Because there is a LOT of story, and in 2.0 and 2.x, there really is a LOT of filler. So if someone just can't play more than a few hours a week, but really wants to play the game, who am I to tell that guy, tough, don't play this game then? It's not what I would do in their situation, I'd just suck it up and play through the thing - but then, I also am routinely able to play considerably more than an hour per night if I want to devote most of a given night to the game. So it's easier for me to just say, just suck it up and take the time.
I'm not too concerned about the level booster either, since A) they're only allowing one per account (at least, for now), and B) despite the absence of a boost potion, it's not like we don't have plenty of people who have no earthly clue how to play their class as it is. Don't think the boost potion will change that very much, honestly.
I honestly don't get the mentality of: "Wow this game seems really good, I am absolutely going to play- Wait, a BOOST potion? I'm out." Baffling.
Thought this thread (and your post) was mainly about the Jump Potions, or possible "pay-to-win" implications. But from the bolded, it sounds like you think there shouldn't be a cash shop at ALL if you have that big a problem with people paying for purely cosmetic things such as emotes and mounts? So, I put up with it. And say a silent "wow, what a moron" whenever I see someone using emotes that you have to f*cking pay for, or riding a mount that costs $25, or playing a level 60 character whilst having absolutely no idea what they're doing and no idea what's going on storyline-wise.
Which, if you really do think there should be no cash shop at all, then hey, sure. That's a valid opinion to have. Silently judging someone and calling them a "moron" in your head because they choose to spend their money in a way you disapprove of, however, is pretty much a douchebag maneuver.
Well, now that I understand you can only buy one, it's not as bad as I thought. It's still walking a line that other MMO's have walked and ended up on the side of Theme Park MMO's and Digital Pez Dispensers rather then high quality content. Too many people crying because they can't experience everything in the first 30 days. I'm sure this game will continue to do fine, but there is a lot of people like me right now searching for the right game. The right game doesn't have ridiculous catch up mechanics and equality for all. Equality works as much in game as it does in real life.
Hate to break it to you, but this game is pretty much the definition of a theme park MMO.Well, now that I understand you can only buy one, it's not as bad as I thought. Well, I'm glad that you feel a little better, but I feel as if you haven't answered my question -- or if something you've said is the personal negative effect you anticipate, then it's so minimal that it seems strange to leave the game over. Would you mind clarifying what about the boosts makes your own gaming experience less enjoyable?Well, now that I understand you can only buy one, it's not as bad as I thought. You're fine. I'm not trying to marginalize you or disregard your feelings about level boost potions or anything. I was pretty put off when games like WoW added them, but over the years and many games I've played, I've just come to expect it. Square Enix is a business, and level boost potions help make money. More revenue means more shiny things for us to enjoy and longer lifespan of the game. It really does not impact my gameplay experience if other people skip a week of level grind, so no use stressing over it. I hope you and your friends won't give up on the game, as there's still so much more for you to see and experience.
It's not letting me quote you for some reason, but to keep it short and sweet. It kills value. It's a handicap.
