It's a bad idea, but I believe they're limited to one per account, so it seems more like a 'here, start at the most recent content' button rather than an 'I want 60-all and am willing to pay for it' situation.

That said, it's getting increasingly difficult to find MMOs that don't cater to lazy people who would rather pay extra money to skip experiences than stop and smell the roses. I'd jump at a major one if it released, but companies just don't seem willing to sacrifice a few bucks for the sake of game quality anymore.

So, I put up with it. And say a silent "wow, what a moron" whenever I see someone using emotes that you have to f*cking pay for, or riding a mount that costs $25, or playing a level 60 character whilst having absolutely no idea what they're doing and no idea what's going on storyline-wise.

That said, the combat changes are far more relevant. I'm definitely holding off on purchasing Stormblood until I get a chance to play around with those a bit. A lot of the changes seem OK, but whenever a company approaches combat with the deliberate goal of 'reducing the gap' between players who give a s*it (i.e. those that SE terms as 'raiders' even though many of us don't raid) and those who don't, I'm deeply concerned. Less interesting combat would be far more likely to send me running for the hills than SE catering a bit too much to people with more money than sense.

Meh. I'm mostly indifferent to it. Would I prefer that everyone play through the story? Sure, I think it's a good story (for the most part) and is worth doing. But to be fair, not everyone has that much time to play, period. Because there is a LOT of story, and in 2.0 and 2.x, there really is a LOT of filler. So if someone just can't play more than a few hours a week, but really wants to play the game, who am I to tell that guy, tough, don't play this game then? It's not what I would do in their situation, I'd just suck it up and play through the thing - but then, I also am routinely able to play considerably more than an hour per night if I want to devote most of a given night to the game. So it's easier for me to just say, just suck it up and take the time.

I'm not too concerned about the level booster either, since A) they're only allowing one per account (at least, for now), and B) despite the absence of a boost potion, it's not like we don't have plenty of people who have no earthly clue how to play their class as it is. Don't think the boost potion will change that very much, honestly.

I honestly don't get the mentality of: "Wow this game seems really good, I am absolutely going to play- Wait, a BOOST potion? I'm out." Baffling.

Thought this thread (and your post) was mainly about the Jump Potions, or possible "pay-to-win" implications. But from the bolded, it sounds like you think there shouldn't be a cash shop at ALL if you have that big a problem with people paying for purely cosmetic things such as emotes and mounts?

Which, if you really do think there should be no cash shop at all, then hey, sure. That's a valid opinion to have. Silently judging someone and calling them a "moron" in your head because they choose to spend their money in a way you disapprove of, however, is pretty much a douchebag maneuver.
