Please do something about mentor roulette instant-leaves

This has been an issue for about a year now. People who don't get dungeons or whatever that they want so they leave new players who queue for their dungeons normally. What's worse it's usually the tank or healer too.

For example, I got into a Brayflox's Longstop this morning sans a tank and was the in progress healer. The tank left instantly when he saw it was Brayflox and apparently was a mentor. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

How do you propose they fix this? A penalty already exists.

they're mentors. they should be held to a higher standard than other players. Ergo mentor roulette leaves should result in a harsher penalty. This is why people hate mentors. They get their special crown but act with less responsibility than your average player.

i think you are overreacting a little. (almost seen biased simply because "they got their special crown" but you didn't)
but non the less.. there are always good apple and bad apple. some people encounter bad ones more often and some less.
just relax a little after your anger and life goes on.

i joined a PF to help new player when no one else was joining only to see the PF disband and shows up again with "JPonly" *shrugs* i was a little pissed but you know.. life goes on.

As long as this remains a game and mentors aren't being paid real money this remains a volunteer job that anyone can drop at any moment. You're free to sign up to the mentor system and help outnumber those "bad mentors", but you can't force them to play the way you want them to.
The bolded part is the biggest problem with the current incarnation of the mentor system when dealing with threads like this.

People irrationally hate mentors you mean. You are forgetting the other side of the coin where mentors get harassed by other players for attempting to help them so acting like mentors are the only problem is quite wrong.

I honestly rarely see Mentors leaving groups so I am unsure of how much of a problem it really is.

Disable abandon duty for 30 minutes when entering as a mentor. Then (even if it's horrible) they'll be invested in the duty for 30 minutes. So they might as well finish it.

Nah, they will just force d/c.

edit: Basically it boils down to: You can not force people to do something they don't want to do, so coming up with new ideas to do that is destined to fail. If you want people to stay in content then the reward for it has to be great enough for them to want to stick it out even if it is not something they are particularly fond of doing.

Is that right or fair? I don't know, but unfortunately it's how it is.

Make it so if they force d/c they can't log on for 24 hours. And if that fails... shark tanks!
