Do you play alt characters, if so why?

I don't have an alt because I'm completely satisfied with my first, main character. I've put so much work into her that I just refuse to start again from the bottom as a total different character; it would just be weird to me. XDD

Kudos to those with alts; you sure do have patience.

I create alts when I want to see what a character would look like without having to use a fantasia. I have one alt to redo the story but the rest I don't play much.

I like having characters that adhere to certain aesthetics and having that reflected in their class, glamours and general appearance. I also like crafting stories for them and imagining different stories pertaining to them as if they were normal people, not the WoL. I also like having a variety of characters that can look forward to different things, like three of my characters are to Ala Mhigan sets right now. I also like the break up from the monotonous feel a mere one character would give me and having more things to keep me busy and work towards.

I was an altaholic in previous MMORPGs due to wanting to experience all of the classes, but thanks to the job system, I've just stuck with this one character so far.

I have alts for specialist reasons. But I also like to replay MSQ (yeah i'm one of those) and not all CS is available in the inn lol

created an alt, so that i can raid with another group of my friends without any restrictions.

My alts were made for a combination of reasons. The biggest reason was back during when raids were on weekly lockouts, my alt was used to double clear for loot purposes, or in the case of Creator, helping out group's friends without compromising their two chests for the week.

Nowadays, my alts are for storage, and having fun on different races instead of having to fantasia every other day just to get a fresh perspective.

I came into this game still stuck in the D&D/WoW mindset; you know, one character can only be one class. Afterwards, it sunk in about being able to be all classes, but, that broke my suspension of disbelief. No one is good at everything. I weeded out the superfluous characters and ended up with a group of alts who each have several classes which made sense together. With my main, they now make a cast for a potential comic.

You know, I've never wanted to make an alt because I didn't want to have to do the whole MSQ again just to unlock stuff. Now with the jump potions coming I'm actually considering it...so I can choose a different race and maybe lessen my fantasia addiction on my main. Plus I've got a name I'd like to use but don't want to change my main's name.
