I do everything on my one character. I do have an alt to play with the Mrs. so I stay at her character and power levels.

Mainly for the extra retainers and gathering of material. Storage is good as well.

I have a single Alt that I actually use. It's mostly for extra storage, since I don't want to pay for more retainers. However, it is also really convenient to use as a way to handle and move my FC's money. I store extra FC items and stuff that the FC plans to sell on her, that way anything she sells for the FC, the money doesn't accidentally get mixed in with my own. I have one retainer on her that I use for selling items when I have an excess of crafted items to sell and the other one is used almost exclusively to sell stuff for my FC.

I got a bunch of alt characters myself, for several reasons:
1. I got an alt on an EU server because NA latency makes ninja unfun to play for me.
2. I got several alts for RP (Different personas -> Different characters).
3. I like being able to switch appearance without buying a fantasia every time.
4. I sometimes want to be alone and outside my social circles.
5. I like being able to gear up multiple jobs with current tome gear, which lockouts usually prevent.
6. I actually quite like leveling sans MSQ

I have 2 max level raid ready characters for being able to run with or help other groups without having to screw them over for 2 chests each week as well as makes gearing up quicker for both raid gear and tome gear.
the additional thing is being able to have 3 additional crafting Specialist.
have been bored so leveling a 3rd character waiting for Storm blood on a different server to play with irl friends on a different Data center
I have one alt- for two reasons I want to play a female and two I want to re-experience the story so I keep my alt one expac behind. Can't wait to be RD MAGE and start playing HW as my alt.
I'm an admitted alt-holic and I have alts for various reasons (There's a story for each character I create). But when SB comes out I'll make another one. Just to see how certain quests are changed.
I'm in the EU region and used to play with a group of people on the NA servers, and made an alt on the EU server... When they stopped playing and they moved the EU server to Europe, I transferred the character over to the EU server and now I play two characters.

Around patch 3.5 or so, I found that I really liked different classes for different reasons, but didn't want to do the "gear grind" on my main for all the classes that I liked playing (see also: tomestone limitations). So I decided to pick three and stick with them. Currently, my classes will be:
- Dragoon
- Samurai (we'll see how this plays out...if I end up hating it, I will switch to ninja)
- Dark Knight
I'm in the process of leveling an alt, who is sort of the antithesis of my main character. Whereas I look at Stormfur as very cool, calculated and discerning, my alt is very brash, powerful and courageous (not in an RP sense). I chose the following classes for him:
- Monk
- Warrior
- Machinist
I also love to craft, and don't like to be constrained by specialist actions (I'm a proud omnicrafter #sorrynotsorry). So I am *very* casually working on leveling up crafting on the alt too.

I have been thinking of making alt characters, but I'm not certain if I want to do it so close before Stormblood is coming out. I still have a lot of preparation to do with my main character, including gearing up my Paladin and getting a healing class up to level 60.
I might consider making an alt character once I'm maxed in Stormblood, however.
