Here's a concept that I ran by multiple WHM in my FC/LS and they liked it a lot.

It's a Bravery and Faith system and it could work similar to WHM's Afflatus: Solace and Afflatus: Misery stances in XI.

Bravery and Faith could have worked similar to WHM's Afflatus: Solace/Afflatus: Misery stances in XI.

Here's how it would work. Casting healing magic that cures lost HP builds up your Faith meter (Cure 1-3, Medica 1,2). Then when the Faith gauge is high, you activate a Elemental Caress that eats your faith gauge and gives you a 15 second buff that enhances Cures, Medicas to grant an HP shield worth 100% of the amount that the cure heals.

Conversely, casting attack magic or taking damage ups Bravery. Using Elemental Fury drains your Brave gauge to zero and gives a 15 second buff that increases attack magic potency by +50%, reduces casting time by 50% and MP cost by 50%.

So as you cure you get the chance to drop a powerful Cure III on your party that will give a heavy ass shield. By nuking and taking damage from mechanics you fill up your Bravery gauge and then can fire back with stronger magic damage when the situation allows.

First off, thank you for listening to our feedback, it's nice to know we're not just shouting into the void.

There are two main problems right now.

Firstly too much was removed from WHM, first we lost Stoneskin I & II but we also donated five of our abilities to the 'Role Abilities', that's seven abilities just straight up gone. Sure, we can get five of them back but if we just go and take the five WHM abilities...we're still losing the five 'Role' skills we should have. I understand about trimming the button bloat but we are now a full ten abilities behind the other two healers (counting cards and fairy skills). We would gladly donate Fluid Aura and Repose for more useful utility skills if we absolutely have to keep our button numbers the same.

Secondly the RNG just...no. We should be able to plan our cooldowns like every other healer. Lilies need a chance to proc off of all our heals not just two of them, Confession needs to be stacked until used and easily granted to multiple targets, otherwise Plenary is rendered a weak tank heal. An easy and thematic way, anyone who stands in Asylum should be granted a stack of confession. The Lilies themselves...the cooldown reduction they currently give is just underwhelming and triggered by so many things that if we are lucky enough to proc a Lily we're never going to notice it's effect.

Overall, I think WHM would have been better with a gauge that filled slowly as healing was done. For every X damage healed the gauge slowly would fill, emptying when we were out of combat. You could have left in that cooldown reduction, just based it off of how full our gauge was and let us choose if we wanted faster casts or if we needed to cast Barrier on everyone to absorb damage or empty our gauge to grant everyone full stacks of confession to use Plenary. There are so many other ways you could have taken it that would have had better synergy.

Also, Assize's 300 potency heal across the entire raid plus Asylum on four people is way more healing than a 900 potency Earthly Star heal to one target.

I am specifically speaking of the extra Assizes/Tetras/Asylums/Benisons based on Lily procs. If you cast every one of those on CD, with 3 Lilies, you end up reducing the CD to the point where you cast 6 in the time you normally cast 5. In the time it takes you to get an extra 2 Assizes, 2 Benisons, 2 Tetras, and 1 Asylum, the AST gets to cast Earthly Star 10 times. The WHM gets 4800 healing potency/1800 damage potency from 2 Assizes, 1600 from 2 Benisons (assuming it's worth about 800 potency on a tank, which seems ballpark-accurate), 1400 from 2 Tetras, and 3200 from 8 ticks of Asylum on 4 people, and double checking my math, that's actually 11k healing potency which is more than the 9k potency from 10 Earthly Stars, though the Earthly Stars still win on damage potency. That said, the odds of you getting 3 lilies on every single oGCD are mind-bogglingly bad. If you are casting 5 cure/cure 2s between every oGCD ability, the odds of you getting a mere TWO lilies on every ability over a ten minute fight are less than the odds of me picking up a grain of sand, throwing it into the ocean, wandering to a random beach 50 years later and picking up that same grain of sand. It is about a .000000000000000000007% chance of getting even a consistent 10% reduction. That's pretty freaking not good.

Confessions are an 80 potency supplement to cure/cure 2 because there's only a 20% chance to get one on cast. That means if you cast 5, you'll probably get one. If you are heal bombing, you can somewhat regularly expect them to come up. It's an oversimplification, because A) you aren't guaranteed to get one, B) if you get more than one they are only worth 100 additional potency, and C) they are usable based on the CD of another ability, which is both good and bad. It's good because you could conceivably delay using one if your CD is/will be up and you don't need the healing this second but will in the next 30 seconds, and it's bad because if you need the healing NOW but just used PI, well, you don't get the healing.

Also, confessions have NO reliable AoE potential. In order to hit more than two targets, i.e. the tanks, I have to have Cured at least 3 targets, i.e. the tanks plus somebody else, in the last 30 seconds AND gotten a 20% proc on each of them, meaning realistically I'll have needed to Cure them multiple times, and then after that all of them and nobody else needs to take damage at the same time, because if somebody needs healing confession doesn't help me. I'm not saying it's impossible for a raid mechanic to benefit from that, but it's REALLY REALLY niche and basically would have to be specifically designed for Confession and even then, since Confessions are so unreliable (TWENTY PERCENT CHANCE ON CURE) and difficult to track, you'll probably just use a Medica instead because in the likely event that they didn't all proc or you didn't REALIZE they all procced, you need to keep people not dead.

On the other hand, the tank is a good target for confessions because A) you'll probably cast a few Cures on him if the damage intake requires it, and B) he'll probably need more healing within 30 seconds of any given Cure. If there's a mechanic where tanks both take damage for extended durations, you can even swap with your cohealer after you get your first confession proc and hope to get a second on the other tank. It's not the worst design assuming we need to cast a lot of Cures. It sucks if we don't, of course, but that goes without saying.

Even though White Mages have it the worst of all healers, I still think it's important to address Scholar as well but it's overshadowed by all the White Mage craze. Their AoE damage is by far the lowest and their ST damage has decreased significantly on three fronts. The first is potency wise with the deletion of Bio I and the 60 second cooldown Shadow Flare, which of course, if it missed, is completely useless. The second one being the change to Cleric Stance. Scholar had great utility DPS wise because it has a pet and thus healing would come from an external source (Eos or Selene). It was more comfortable in Cleric. Now, with healers being able to DPS with MND, the gap between Sholar and the other healers has been closed, so much so that in combination with the third nerf, it's become incredibly weak. Aetherflow only gives 10% of the total MP and the MP cost for skills has been increased. Our AoE damage is terrible as well now.

Chain Stratagem most likely will not be a 20% critical hit buff on a single target as it does not work like Battle Litany. People are estimating it's 5-8%. It's nice utility to have, but it does not make up for the loss of Virus, Eye for an Eye (we won't cross class it), the nerf to Embrace, the loss of Aero, the Bane nerf and the overall DPS loss.

White Mages, I feel bad for you, and as it currently stands, Scholar is better than you still, but it's not as far off as you think. I warmly plead for SE to actually look at Scholar again and to see how both White Mage and Scholar are crushed under the weight of the Astrologion.

My lazy ideas: Increase the potency of a basic Cure to 480, Cure 2 to 750, and Cure 3 to 575. If WHM is supposed to be the power healer, it's tool kit should reflect this. Leave Regen and Medica 2, while maybe buffing Assize by 30 or so. Return Divine Seal to WHM. Increase Lily proc rate to a minimum of 75%.

For best results, design content that the massive healing potential of WHM is a significant help, but isn't quite mandatory.

Correct me if i am wrong but is WHM the only class thats not gonna have any party utility or party buff ?
If so i feel they should adress that as they fine tune Lilly and stack system.

As long as Astro has 20 percent balance and can heal as much as whm with 10 percent bonus to sects, whm will never be needed for raids again there is no reason. Whm is useless now. Astro can heal better then whm or sch heals and sheilds are better. Whm is not balanced at all. Astro will always be taken over whm until I hate to say it you make whm as needed.

Honestly, i don't really think WHM is *as* bad as everyone is saying, but, the new lily mechanic is just so extremey disappointing. Having it trigger off more things (either at a higher rate or just every time a GCD is cast at its current rate) would be nice to see, and keep people casting more. It would also be great to be able to choose when to spend lilys with a dark arts sort of skill.

Obviously, i'm not sure if this would make the mechanic too good, but something like it is what a lot of friends have said too.

There is no reason to play a whm or even a sch when you can be an ast. If you know how math works, the quicker the boss dies, the less healing you need.

The messed up thing is Ast even heals better and provides damage buffs, literally zero reason to play any healer except Ast.

The "pure" healer vision for WHM is flawed because SCH and AST exist.
This is similar to the WAR problem, where WAR can both reliably tank and dps. A pure tank class like PLD seems limited in comparison.

So, give up on the pure healer vision and give WHM some utility, maybe some AOE shields/damage reduction or haste.

Lillies are an RNG concept like AST deals with. It doesn't really fit with WHM. WHM has had procs forever on Cures, but they're pretty irrelevant.
Instead of RNG, make lillies accumulate reliably, such as from regen ticks or casting spells. Lillies should power up abilities, and the question WHMs should face is whether to wait for lillies or use unempowered skills.
Using lillies should be an an instant ability that will empower the next ability used or last for a duration. Basically they're just a buff, maybe with some side effects.

Benison shouldn't even need lillies. Maybe lillies could power it up to aoe shield or increase how much damage it blocks.
