They already are. People really exaggerate how bad the "weak" classes are. Every job can do every piece of content.Seems like PLD is getting a AoE with their sword, can block magical damage with it's shield (a expansion late), and it's "wings" ability lowers down damage by 15% for those that stand behind them in a cone. I'm hoping we'll get better things, if not I don't think much will really change in tank hierarchy in raids. But at least PLD will be a bit more viable in Dungeons.
People caught and translated some of the tank role skills
Rampart
>> Low Blow - Stun target // 5s duration // 25s cooldown
Provoke
>> Convalescence - Increased healing received by 20% // 20s duration // 120s cooldown
>> Anticipation
>> Reprisal - Reduce target’s outgoing damage by 10% // 5s duration // 60s cooldown
Awareness
>> Interject - Silence target for 1s // 30s cooldown
>> Ultimatum - AoE provoke in 5y radius around self // 90s cooldown
>> Shirk

Rampart >>> if it works like it does now, it's a must have
Low Blow >>> if it doesn't do dmg anymore (and losing the drk trait) it's not useful for most raid fights
Provoke >>> must have for tank swaps
Convalescence >>> still a must have
Anticipation >>> no clue what it is, maybe a forced parry or evade
Reprisal >>> no more parry req. just an ocd makes it must have for raids
Awareness >>> depends mostly on the fight if it works like it does atm
Interject >>> we will probably see more stuff that needs to be silenced, so a good one
Ultimatum >>> I don't really see the point in this one
Shirk >>> no clue what it does
Not necessarily. Will be a good baseline selection, but if 5 others would be better for a fight then it might get dropped.
It will be useful when the tank wants to interrupt a target oGCD with a stun. DpS are also having their stuns go to the role list.Low Blow >>> if it doesn't do dmg anymore (and losing the drk trait) it's not useful for most raid fights
True, and selection will be based on whether or not a fight requires a single target tank swap.Provoke >>> must have for tank swaps
Same situation as Rampart. Good baseline but fights might make other options better.Convalescence >>> still a must have
Various possibilities.Anticipation >>> no clue what it is, maybe a forced parry or evade
Only if there is a Partybuster/tankbuster on a 60s timer (30s if both tanks need it) and also depends on what the other roles bring also.Reprisal >>> no more parry req. just an ocd makes it must have for raids
Possibly more fights with Auto-crit phases like Diablos Hollow.Awareness >>> depends mostly on the fight if it works like it does atm
True. SE limited silencing due to inability to guarantee comps would have a Silence.Interject >>> we will probably see more stuff that needs to be silenced, so a good one
Multiple possible uses I can see. Group of adds spawn with a preset amount of enmity greater than what flash/overpower/unleash can generate not targeting a tank. Tanks need to tank swap between a single target and a multiple target group.Ultimatum >>> I don't really see the point in this one
Theory is that it is an enmity dump. Might be key together with Ultimatium for group swaps.Shirk >>> no clue what it does

No one said they weren't viable. No, lacking area damage that literately every other job in the game has had for the last four years is not a exaggeration, this made PLD horrible for Dungeons. Hopefully the rest of the new abilities will add something to the kit for actual raid utility other than over kill party mitigation.
Good catch.

I just saw the drg do low blow in the skills showcase video tho
Was not expecting them to take reprisal from dark Knight. And low blow. Are they still going to have the chance to proc low blow off of CD when they Parry? Will all tanks be able to do that? Or is that trait going away for good? Not sure how I feel about that![]()

yeah, i was hoping they will further increase the whole parry, then counter attack thing for DRK, not taking it away >.>
seems like they removed the counter-tank style from DRK and buffed PLDs magic tanking capabilities. i guess they also buffed his damage with these fancy attacks? WAR will likeley stay the go to off-tank, how many fell cleaves were that? xD so where stays DRK now?

The new Low Blow cross-class replaces both Brutal Swing for WAR and the ability with the same name for DRK. PLD looks like they retain Shield Bash for the same TP cost, presumably on GCD.
Reprisal is now cross-class, but note that WAR has lost the debuff effect from Storm's Path. As an aside, it's worth also worth noting that the Maim and Storm's Eye effects are now switched. PLD seems to have lost Shield Swipe.
