    So I heard we were talking about range.... How about that Storm's Path guys? ^^

    Loling aside, I think the OPs issue is nothing more than misunderstood aninimation lag. Even FFXI had this one, the monster's AI (which is most likely server sided) is going to detect you and start approaching long before you see it start moving. There is then a lag before you react and start moving (amplified by server lag) and then the monster is actually a whole lot closer to you than it looks. (Works with attacking an enemy walking away from you too). This gives the illusion it is hitting you out of its range when in reality, its already on you. Model size effects attack range too, you and Ifrit will be able to trade hits from a visibly longer distance than you in a marmot so you dont have to be all up in Ifrit's sack getting different kind of animation lag.

    Oh, I know lot of it is caused by lag, I just would like some precision, like, If i move my char to look a little left and he does a move that CLEARLY doesn't hit, I want em to miss not have a crit for 1000dmg ya know.

    There you go, they are reducing combat individuality in the dynamic:
    • [dex1206] Magic spells have been unified to strike either a single target or, in the case of AoE, a circular area. Attack range has also been increased, and area of effect broadened.
      * Discrepancies between thaumaturges and conjurers no longer exist in the above areas.
    • [dev1206] The accuracy bonus granted to bow attacks based on distance has been abolished.
    I really hope this is just temporary for the class reform... otherwise, why, why?

    You know your sig pretty much says why you dont miss when your weapon isnt directly hitting them. Face the wrong way and your character auto faces the mob while using the weapon skill you asked it to.

    Soo this going to be fixed... I mean, I stand 100 feet away from ifrit and still can hit it with a clear gap between my weapon point and ifrit!

    Thats because it's not an action RPG.....

    Everything is given a range... and anything within that range can be hit...

    Lancer can't really be as realistic...
    think about a Lalfell DRG and a Roegadyn DRG....
    The way this game plays, they have to have the same range or people will be upset because they chose Lalafell not knowing that it would negatively affect their gameplay
    So now Lalafell and Roegadyn have the same weapon range... but a Roegadyn Spear is going to be WAY LONGER... then not all spears will be the same length

    So because this is NOT an action game (There are action elements... but overall it is, for all intents and purposes a speed/atb based RPG) the developers made a decision re: attack ranges. Pugilist being the shortest and Archer being the farthest.

    If it feels like your DRG is attacking the same distance as the archer, then you can believe the archer has room to back up considerably and still hit the target.

    Comparing it to the archer is silly because:
    1. their ranges are drastically different
    and 2. The archer is not "obligated" to stand far away... they can stand anywhere from right on the MOB to pretty far away... so unless you are testing against an archer at max range, then there really is no sense discussing a comparison
