the ninja ... everything it does another dps can do it better ...

Hi I am a dps main.I leveled every dps class to atleast lvl 50 except the black mage but i played a lot with a friend that was only playing it. I think every dps class are great but the ninja is definitly the weakest.

there is usually 3 things i look when i play dps : the single target damage, the aoe,and the utility.I would say that the ninja

if you want single target dmg the monk the dragoon and the black mage are better the ninja,if you want aoe dont play the ninja and if you want utility ninja is fine but the bard and the gunner are better

trick attack and goad are two very useful abilities, the slashing resistance debuff is nice but its only help tanks and others ninjas. I feel like the ninja not enough utility to ignore the terrible aoe and the average single target dmg it bring to a team.

compared to the ninja the bard has a weak single target dps but i think it is the 2nd/3rd best aoe dps in the game and his utility is the best since he can remove debuffs , double the effectiveness of his songs, My friend that was only playing his black mage was really enjoying the 20% magic resistance debuff from a boosted foe requiem

the gunner utilities and aoe's are a bit weaker than the bard but its super strong opener ( 2400-2500) dmg from wildfre in lvl 50 content) make his single target dps much better. i think a skilled gunner can bring a good mix of single target, aoe and utility to a team wich make it a very versatile dps that can fit in almost every team comps.

i dont think the ninja is that bad but one dps has to be the worst ...

i also dont see why it has 2 poison abilities since there is almost no difference between both it is only a waste of two passives and spells,his teleport ability isnt a reliable way to dodge attacks and he has weak off global cooldown ( mug and jugulate) compared to the monk and drg and many useless abilities like the steath,the first backstab you unlock wich is just a dps loss and the lower fall damage passive wich aint useful at all


ninja is also super fragile for a melee ...

Smoke screen is great for dampening enmity on other hard pulling dps or healer classes, shadewalker let's tanks pull without having to be in tank stance, dancing edge reduces slashing resistance on enemies, Huton boosts personal attack speed without having to use a combo (unlike mnk), 3 Aoe attacks (one spammable), the ability to stun or silence, 3 dots, plus goad, trick attack, and the ability to throw out attacks from range while running from aoes, plus low positional requirements.... id say they have a lot more use than you think

The raid utility of the job is clearly above the two others melee.

If you can't see how good it is then I don't know what you're looking for.

Ninja is literally the most valuable DPS in the game at the moment. Smoke Screen and Shadewalker are invaluable for allowing tanks to DPS harder in savage, Goad addresses the inevitable TP drain that all TP using classes run in to, and Trick Attack all but trivializes DPS checks with a 10% boost to everyone in the party. Between Trick attack and Shade Walker it actually provides more single target damage throughout the entire party compared to Monk and Black Mage. It's AOE also isn't terrible now that it was buffed, it's pretty average compared to the jobs.

From what I understand the worst of the dps is currently the monk..

Probably the least desirable in a raid environment at the very least...

I think the op is looking at it wrong though it's not that anyone thing a ninja can do another job can do better it's simply that all the things a ninja can do add up to be a he'll of a lot more than what any other dps can do..

Monk for example does awesome dps. Bit that's literally all it does. And thus it doesn't add up to much in a group environment..

It's the same with white mage. No other healer comes close in terms of raw healing potential but that's all a Whm is good at and thus it's the least desirable healer..

And until recently paladin again.untouchable defence but couldn't dps at all so was the least desirable tank and perhaps still is

Being a perfect 10 at one thing isn't as valuable as being a 6or7 at 3-4 different things.
