    That Volcano in La Noscea

Is there a official name for it? If not what would you think it would be called.
Gurgu Volcano like from FF1? Will we be able to access this volcano before 2.0?

Yes this useless thread is useless, but standing around in Uldah for a PT has had me ponder on the current world of Eorzea.

You get on the ferry from the Western Thanalan dock. You're out at sea, while everything looks the same, the compass shows you moving West the whole time until you reach Limsa. But wait! You end up on La Noscea's South Western side, where Limsa's docks reside! Which means when you see Limsa, you're seeing it as if you were facing in an Eastern direction!

"Pfft, the ship just sailed around the island.". Shouldn't we be able to at least see the island as we're moving around it to Limsa then? What ship would take such a wide around turn that we'd never see the island until we move back at it dead on? Or is my compass broken? Did a wizard do it?

Real world directions making sense in a game world? Mind blown. Of course it could just be laziness.
I think it just comes down to the current dev team have to work with something that was strung together for a force boot out the door, so there's probably lots of little bits and pieces to things that need polishing, much like many of the mechanics and systems in game are undergoing.

Ships usually follow certain routes which are easier and faster to travel and have lower risk on getting damaged.
So maybe south/north of Vylbrand are dangerous currents which will throw a ship into the cliffs,
or there are many shallows, so the ship will have to take a wide detour.

Actually, I can attest to the ferry not going directly east to west and then slightly north, and vice-versa. I [accidentally] discovered that the ferry goes south of Limsa Lominsa a LOT before going east. I glitched into the water once from Bald Knoll, and decided to take a run to Limsa Lominsa (Ran into a cave, lagged, and ended up underneath the Isles of Umbra. Also, the water textures glitch(?) very far from the shore - it turns into black squares). Over there, in Limsa Lominsa, the ferry was just leaving as I ran underneath it, so I continued following it. Around 30 seconds later, the ferry speeds up a LOT, leaving me behind, but I continued running to it in a straight line until it vanished. I waited for the next ferry before doing the same, and discovered I was running directly SOUTH, even slightly to the west in fact. (This was before chocobos, so I did not have the advantage of my fast fat chicken.) I was off the map already (the M one) but the mini-map still showed which direction I was running to.

By the time the ferry actually started angling to the east, Vylbrand was barely visible, much like how we actually see it when we approach Limsa Lominsa. And this was only when it started angling; it angles not directly east, but south-east, making it even less likely to see the island. This may be taking the realism a bit too far, but that is the path the ferry takes when I was running with it. Sorry, there were no screenshots; I only remembered that occasion when I read back to this topic; I didn"t think it"ll be something interesting like this, haha. I also did not make it to Thanalan; game kept disconnecting me after a certain point.
