    DEV IDEA & Question - Flight/Swimming Compromise in ARR Areas

    So hi there, had a thought. And from there it became a question.

    Idea: Since the land speed of ground mounts is going why not add the effect of flying? For example the EX-Primal birds, running like scared pigeons through ARR. Why not at this new top speed we let them use the "glide" animation do this with all the flying mounts. It would make them look less stupid.

    Also in bodies of water, like outside of Bronze Lake or in the Mist, why not push the invisible wall out a little and let us swim a bit, no diving of course.

    Question: I am not asking for full fight or full diving in ARR areas, I understand it would be very hard and resource heavy. What I'm asking for is sort of an esthetic tweak. If your going to boost the speed of my Ravana Bird, let him come off the ground a meter or two and let him open those wings. If I'm messing around in the Mis, can I backstroke a bit instead of wading?

    Can this be done?

    Both of those seems pretty cool, I would also think it pretty sweet if they added a few hidden/explore areas with the glide (I'm not suggesting every zone, but to just make something extra to come back around for).

    The swimming bit could also be used to unblock a few of the ankle deep rivers in the shroud area, the invisible walls on those specifically trigger me lol. I get that not all of the swimming areas would work because some would require more detail in areas but with your limitation of no diving I can name a few sets of water that have full detail on all surroundings and are just walls because we didnt have swimming previously.. I'd love to see those go~

    Yeah exactly. I'm not looking to overhaul the whole system. Just looking for.... well a bit of animation glamour. And before someone comes in complaining that they hate everything fun and don't do this...

    .... I ask please add a setting to the Options so if they want their bird to run it can run. Honestly this all came to me as I ran around North Thanalan last night and saw the Firebird and saw how it still does its flight animation on the ground and thought to my self.... "That's real nice. Wish my bird did that. He runs like he fell out of the nest early."

    Those are good ideas. I am hoping that there will be animations for the high speeds, instead of just the same one, but faster. That would just seem weird.
