please bring back an East Coast server! i miss my friends...

don't get me wrong, i don't really mind that my ping is a great deal worse after the transfer, ive dealt with it for a long time since time warner is a pretty bad ISP, so the server being on the other side of the country from me doesn't personally bother me. what upsets me is that, as a result, many of my EU friends have been forced to leave the NA server due to the unplayable-levels of ping that is now present for them.

among these friends is my wife, who i already have an impossibly hard time finding games to play with due to us being an ocean apart. she's the one who introduced me to this game, and this has been the only real thing we could play together for the last couple years. between her social anxiety and my fear of flying it's likely we'll never get to spend time together physically, so it's in games like this that we could at least spend time together.

but now that's not the case. with the server being moved to the west coast her ping shoots over 200 and leaves the game an unplayable mess, and the only way she can play is to move to the EU server where me and my terrible ISP would suffer the same as she does here now. we're left without something we can play together once again and i'm all alone now on this server.

i doubt this lousy forum post will do anything to convince Square to place additional servers on the east coast so they have ones on both sides of the country (like most other MMOs do), but in the very least i can hope that someone reads this and cares enough to at least say they want the same thing.

a lot of us have lost friends to this move. if you're one of those people please speak up and say so. maybe, with enough of us voicing our wants, Square might take notice and at least make note of our desires to see our friends again.

The thing about it is that NA servers though many don't like the move they are still in NA, so if person a EU player then the server move wasn't meant for them anyways as they have their own EU data center to play on.

First point: Editing your post lets you bypass the 1'000 character limit (don't ask why, it just does, I don't know why)
Second point: The EU datacentre is designed for EU players, the NA datacentres for NA players. Now NA players getting unplayable levels of ping after the move, have a point to bring up as this is supposed to be for them. That being said, I have friends from the west coast of the US playing on Odin (an EU realm), and it's very much playable for them, so maybe you'd have more luck there? I'd consider making a character on an EU realm if you haven't already and get feel for the ping. It might not be as bad as you think! I do hope it gets resolved though.
