FFXIV causing black screen/hard crash Windows 10 64bit

Hello,
been having some issues for a while with FFXIV causing my pc to entirely crash and become unresponsive. The screen(s) either go completely black and/or upon restart one of the screens has a large white bar across it with a few random dots above and below.

This doesn't happen to me in any other games, not even heavier ones such as the Witcher 3.

Reinstalling my graphics drivers seems to solve the issue everytime but then upon playing again, after not very long I receive the same crash. It doesn't happen during any particular time, not cutscenes or battles or anything in particular; nothing seems to trigger it. I have a feeling it must be to do with my drivers or DirectX?

I have an NVIDIA GTX 970 (I have done a complete fresh install of the drivers a few times already). I have also tried to resit the card.

I've been having the same problem, but only with the DX11 client. Which are you using, DX9 or DX11?

Thank you for your reply - sorry for my lateness! Switching to DX9 solved my issue but roused a new one. I can't play in windowed or borderless windowed anymore...

Hmmm are you using Display port or HDMI? Make sure drivers are up to date, and your monitor has the proper settings as well matching game settings. Try running it in border less window mode. Uninstall direc X and reinstall may help as well.

I just got the stormblood early access last night after playing and this morning i try to login and after i enter my info my computer completely blue screens! I've tried 3 times now I also have a brand new laptop with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M. I dont know much about this stuff is there anything I can do???

Can always try running benchmark to get an idea of what your system can handle. It may just be mem/drivers crashing.

I am using HDMI for one screen and DVI for the other, it makes no difference if I have one screen or not, still crashes. Not BSOD, just black.
Pretty sure it's not a performance issue, I have a pretty okay g card (GTX 970) and 8gb RAM. It just hard crashes to a black screen and my whole pc is bork. I used to have to reinstall video drivers to get it to work properly again but it seems okay now, just restarting suffices.

Umm blue screen is even worse. Could be a defective hardware. Did you tried playing the game again?
