    Leveling: PotD or MSQ?

My wife has decided to come back after 3 years, to poke around the Stormblood release. She's level 30 archer, with no other classes. Leveling is not something she does. She'll need to do the MSQ to unlock the content, but is PotD still worth a little grind to finish off the levels?

Welcome back to Eorzea. First, if your wife is planning to main Archer, then she should progress through MSQ normally as all MSQ give sufficient experience to reach level 60 easily.

PotD is also a great way to level and should be used to level alt characters.

Any of the methods should be fine, but if your wife plans to play Stormblood, it's recommended that she progress through MSQ.

It's not a bad way to get the 15 levels of PUG for Bard in a hurry and catching up on level were needed. Otherwise the MSQ may as well be the best way seeing as you still need to do it to unlock the content.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll recommend to her to use PotD for her cross-class stuff, and MSQ for leveling. Can you get to 60 with only MSQ, or do you need to do all the regional side quests too? I honestly don't remember, since I tend to burn through the leveling content very early.

You can get to 60 alone on msq. Quite a lot of the msq quests are dgn and trials so doing those (on top of the daily bonus) nets you quite a lot of exp.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

You can't get to 60 with only the MSQ, unless you have a significant level lead from elsewhere. You gotta pad that with dungeons, PotD, side quests, FATEs or whatever.

    From my experiences anyhow.

I don't think MSQ alone is enough exp to hit 60. I've had new players in the Novice Network complain about getting stuck in the 30s and 40s and having to stop and level when they literally did nothing but main story quests.

Doing stuff like hunting logs and Daily Leveling Roulette as she works through the main quests may be enough to keep up with it.

Flying in HW is unlocked through side quests in the HW zones. She'll need to do those as well to unlock flying. At this point in the game I don't think she'll need to do too much additional grinding to get to 60 using MSQ and side quests to unlock flying in the zones. Just make sure to do some PotD every few levels.

You can't get to 60 with just MSQ, but if you do all the side quests you'll be over-leveled. Probably if you do just MSQ, grind dungeons a few more times than normal, FATEs, and PoTD occasionally it'll work out.

At this point, when you factor in all the 2.1-2.55 lv. 50 content, you'll have a small lead going into Heavensward content. That doesn't mean you can bypass doing dungeons or other side content, but it's worth noting.
