I would agree with you. I thought adding rewards would be better than simply adding a parser and hoping the more lazy players would use it. If they had something to gain though, I feel like they would do so even if they did not want to. At least until they get the all of the rewards they wanted.

This is what we need. And I don't think anyone could (should) be against this.

How about implementing it only for specific duties?
Parsers are really most useful in the endgame raids, since that is where you have to optimise. And since people feel that much hate towards seeing numbers (even when it has been proposed multiple times to only display your own numbers), just put it in the place where it is really helpful? Among raiders it is already frequently used and accepted, so please just legalise it for PC players and give us PS4 players the same tools.

I do however believe, that everyone would benefit from a possibility to know how they're doing, so they get an easier time to improve or optimise.

This (amongst other ideas with similar goals) keeps coming up because something needs to change to reduce the current gulf between top and bottom tier players. The community is aware of this and thankfully, SE seem to agree given some of the design goals stated for Stormblood.

First off, you're generalizing people. You say people called you bad in game, those people are probably not the people replying to you on the forums. People are offering advice yet you just seem to ignore it and you just bring more and more negativity. You will get absolutely zero sympathy from me; my sympathy is reserved for those who constantly try to improve themselves, something you fail to show. At this point, I honestly believe you are just trying to troll the thread.

Anyway, back on topic. An in-game parser is long overdue. There's. a reason why these threads keep popping up. A lot of people have the drive to improve, but they don't know that they are underperforming. The game doesn't really teach you proper rotations and there's no way outside of third party apps to really gauge yourself. I don't consider SSS to be a way to gauge yourself as there are worlds of differences between wailing on a dummy and actually fighting the real thing.

The community around high end play is already toxic. All an in game parser will do is make it more toxic, but not much more, since it really can't get that much worse.

I don't mind dmg meters, and I had the best mod for keeping track of my own stats in WoW, so it's moot to me. I just know it will add toxicity, period. Now, it is a useful tool for PF, because you can flat out say your requirement for dmg/sec max and actual, and you can then kick people with a clear conscience for not holding up to the bargain they signed on by joining. DF is harder because it's 4/8 random people, and there really can't be expectations at that point. But PF and pre-made...yeah, kicking wll be a lot more clinical and emotionless, since numbers will back up whether you are pulling your weight or not.

Where is this toxicity exactly? What content and context do you mean with "high end play"? I have played this game since 1.0 and done 99% of the content it has to offer (the only thing I haven't done in PvE is Coil Savage) and it's been extremely rare I've encountered players who have acted extremely offensively towards others.

How would an official parser change things? In my view, a parser would let everyone stand on an equal ground. I have seen people accuse others from bad DPS while the accusers have had the lowest DPS in the group. Showing this information in public would prevent these false accusations. And, on the other hand, if someone would really be doing significantly less than they should be to be able to clear content, why couldn't that be brought up, and why shouldn't a person who really isn't pulling their weight in difficult content be removed? As long as harassment is still forbidden, of course.

In practice it wouldn't really change anything but add transparency, since it's very likely that in every group you're running with in any content in this game at least one person is already running one.
