    Self Parsing and rewards system

    Hello all,
I, and a lot of other players support the idea of an in game parser. There are also those who do not want them. I wonder though, could we satisfy both parties?

We have a few problems such as party finder groups kicking others unless they can provide sufficient numbers. We also have verbal harassment in duty finder and those who use third party parsers currently, already have an advantage on the rest of us.

    So what do we do?

    My idea:

Add in self parsing attached to a rewards system. If you do a dungeon with an average parse of more than 80/90% you could get rewarded with a currency token or some form of achievement progression. If you're a healer, instead, you would get points for healing done as well as damage and mitigation. Basically you get rewarded for actively trying to play well on any class or job.

For the achievements idea we could get items, glamours, mounts and other various rewards from simply by gaining achievements and we would use the personal parser to understand how to do that.

For the token system, swap out achievements with actual currency that you could trade to vendors. There could be any number of things as rewards. Gil, bonus tomestones, or something new that can only be traded to certain npcs.

I suggest adding in the rewards that are already beyond most players reach, and or impossible to gain anymore as well as the commendation rewards.
I could tank a duty and do my job exceptionally and most players just dont care to commend anymore. They dont want to stop between every duty and pass out high fives. They want to get that weekly cap filled before bed and more often than not do not even say anything before leaving.(this is in my personal experience ofc)
So is it a bad idea to let the game commend good gameplay instead of players? Personally, I see good game play as good game play.

The only problem with these suggestions I have thought of is that that people may ask for proof of an achievement. "show an achievement item or no invite." I feel that if there is more than one way to obtain these items, it would possibly eliminate this. That is why I decided it might be a good idea to merge the system with commendations and maybe add more awards to both in the future.

I apologize for such a lengthy post and appreciate the time and efforts of those of you who took the time to read it all. Thank you very much.

Do you readers have any suggestions, opinions or things you might do differently?

I'm all for parsers. Honestly if harassment stays bannable nothing needs to change if they make it a part of the game.

This. Harassment is harassment and should be punished, whether it is due to your name or your numbers that others see and you don't.

I do however agree that self-parsing can be beneficial in a way, as people could actively work on improving their DPS, healing done or damage taken. The goal being a better player in general.

It's not just parsers that need to be sorted out. Clarity of numbers needs to be sorted out across the board, from stat weights to damage calculations. Can I please know what the hell 982 crit means without going through 3rd party means?

Yoshi P once said that this won't be changing because he prefers players experimenting and discovering what those numbers mean, and thinks that is more fun. I'd love to see how much of the community actually agrees with that.

only if we can all agree to the fact that calling out a dps whos approximately only spamming one button and doing abysmally low dps is NOT harassment. (<--- NOT an exaggeration,btw...I'm talking about nicely equipped players doing 600-800 dps in expert....this is an extreme case and I do come across them regularly...and even I do more dps pushing one button)

It's calling out laziness and telling people to put effort.

The other day, during an expert run on Baelsar's Wall, I had a blm that did 1400 on that first large pull. I on the other hand was at 4700 as a drg. The other members praised the blm for having massive aoe damage after that pull was finished, and continued to do so for the rest of the dungeon.

All I could do was sit there and watch how misinformed they were since I can't say a word about numbers. Now this isn't their fault, because Square Enix's stance on parsers, but it definitely shed some light on a problem. This probably happens way more than it should.

Semi-related statement from the big guy himself.
    https://gamerescape.com/2016/11/15/f...-fan-festival/

F: Will you implement any new content for beginning players like the Hall of the Novice?
Y: The staff gave a suggestion to implement the Hall of the Intermediate the other day. (laugh) It would teach players who want to do extreme Primals their job rotations.
F: What was your response to the suggestion?
Y: It would give players the message that ,they have to do good in-game so I wasn’t really into the idea… but recently I started thinking that it might not be so bad. (laugh)

I'd just like a way to know how I'm doing as a PS4 player without having to rely on friends who play on PC.
It's kind of hard to improve when I don't even know if I'm doing badly unless the randoms I was playing with upload the run to FFLogs or something.

As a fellow PS4 player who's curious on how I compare to other end-game players, I strongly agree with this. I firmly believe that all PS4 players that do end-game content would benefit from having parsers, even if it only showed your personal numbers. Even having something like a personal grading system when you complete a raid would a good indicator for PS4 players to see how well they're actually doing.

    Thumbs up for ingame parsers!
Being told my numbers for the first time by someone in the group made me strive to become a better player. And its really helpful when testing out rotations. Just seeing my own numbers would be enough, I don't need to see those of others.
And before anyone comes with the SSS argument again, this does NOT help at all for comparing rotations and it's got nothing to do with actual performance in a real fight, where you gotta maximise your dps with mechanics happening.
