Hello all,
I, and a lot of other players support the idea of an in game parser. There are also those who do not want them. I wonder though, could we satisfy both parties?
We have a few problems such as party finder groups kicking others unless they can provide sufficient numbers. We also have verbal harassment in duty finder and those who use third party parsers currently, already have an advantage on the rest of us.
So what do we do?
My idea:
Add in self parsing attached to a rewards system. If you do a dungeon with an average parse of more than 80/90% you could get rewarded with a currency token or some form of achievement progression. If you're a healer, instead, you would get points for healing done as well as damage and mitigation. Basically you get rewarded for actively trying to play well on any class or job.
For the achievements idea we could get items, glamours, mounts and other various rewards from simply by gaining achievements and we would use the personal parser to understand how to do that.
For the token system, swap out achievements with actual currency that you could trade to vendors. There could be any number of things as rewards. Gil, bonus tomestones, or something new that can only be traded to certain npcs.
I suggest adding in the rewards that are already beyond most players reach, and or impossible to gain anymore as well as the commendation rewards.
I could tank a duty and do my job exceptionally and most players just dont care to commend anymore. They dont want to stop between every duty and pass out high fives. They want to get that weekly cap filled before bed and more often than not do not even say anything before leaving.(this is in my personal experience ofc)
So is it a bad idea to let the game commend good gameplay instead of players? Personally, I see good game play as good game play.
The only problem with these suggestions I have thought of is that that people may ask for proof of an achievement. "show an achievement item or no invite." I feel that if there is more than one way to obtain these items, it would possibly eliminate this. That is why I decided it might be a good idea to merge the system with commendations and maybe add more awards to both in the future.
I apologize for such a lengthy post and appreciate the time and efforts of those of you who took the time to read it all. Thank you very much.
Do you readers have any suggestions, opinions or things you might do differently?
