That said, I'm on PS4 in Florida and I've not noticed a thing with this server relocation.
The North East and Eastern Canada get it the worst, as they're the farthest from Sacramento as possible. Wouldn't want to be someone from Houlton or Eastport, Maine, I can tell you that. Being in Boston jumped it enough (which is PRETTY FAR east), but there's further points than that.

Thank you for that information, in case I need to move the router when I get a new computer.

The wireless card on the PS4 is trash to begin with. Then it has go through PSN which makes it more sensitive.

Hard Wired + being able to bypass PSN would make the PS4 much better for FFXIV

I play on PS4 Pro (and PS4 before that) and never ever have had that issue.
I am willing to think it is more isp connection issue then the hardware (PS4)
And why do people go wireless? Not judging just curious. Hardwired should always be used if possible

I can hardwire it at one house but not the other, due to just how far the router is and the fact that the owner of the house is not willing to drill through the floor to get the ethernet cable down and unwilling to move the router either. kinda stuck with wifi there.

This is not correct. The only part PSN plays is brokering the initial connection to the game servers. This happens when the game launcher runs only.

Proof my answer: During the all PSN outages due to DDOS attacks last year, any FF14 player previously connected the game was able to keep playing without issue (I personally did this on the Christmas day 2015 attack). Any player attempting to connect to the game was blocked because PSN was not available.

PS4 wifi can only operate on 802.1 g protocol.
Can you adjust the router to not operate 802.1 a/b/g or g/n modes? If so, you will see a signal performance improvement (mostly reliability not speed) because the router will not be attempting to switch between the speeds as different devices use the WiFi.
Does the router support dual-band or tri-band transmission? If so, setup an SSID for g only, and another n only ensure the n band is transmitting on 5 GHz and g is on 2.4 GHz to prevent collision.
Additionally, most routers come setup to transmit on channel 6, if there are many other routers in range (e.g. neighbours), you should consider switching to channel 11 to reduce the interference.

That is pretty good advice and I'll have to try that. I actually don't have much problems right now with it as it's the only device on that band, everyone else in the house uses the other band for 5G which my ps4 can't hit.
