So what if its final fantasy? It is also a MMORPG. Did people play Final Fantasy Tactics for its story too cause it was final fantasy? It is also like saying WoW should force RTS elements because of warcraft's clear RTS history.
Oh I didn't mean this to be dismissive of your viewpoint, just pointing out that FF as a brand is known for its storytelling, even across genres. Also, I'm currently playing through FFT for the story (in preparation for RtI).
So long as the potions remain completely optional I don't see a problem with them. Honestly I wouldn't mind them at this point for an alt I made on another server so I could play with some new friends in their FC but am currently stuck trudging through the low levels.
Eventually a game will have so much content jump potions will make sense. So long as its players choice to use it, whats the harm? You can't even say people wont know how to play their classes, when most dont know how in the first place after starting at level 1 and playing since the beginning.
So if you're a new player and don't want jump potions, simply dont use one.problem solved.
They keep old content relevant through relics and the like so its unlikely youll never be able to clear old content related to story. Besides, thats also what an FC is forhelping you get through all the content!
And Final Fantasy RPGs have historically been single-player RPGs. So according to the person quoted, games played for the story.
Notice a connection, perhaps? Could it be that the story focus has nothing to do with Final Fantasy but with Single-Player RPGs? After all, non-Final Fantasy single player RPGs typically have one of varying quality as well and you usually need to go through it in a semi-linear or linear fashion.
Probably just a bunch of coincidences. It makes too much sense.
Having the option is nice for those who are not interested in the story and want jump straight into the new expansion. But for those who do want to experience the story, I think the best thing for SE to do is to increase EXP from the MSQ once more so players won't have to do all the side quests (the ones that don't have the meteor icon) anymore to reach all the way up to level 60.
people are gona do dungeons , what being new does is make it harder for you to get into the more challenging content in the game like trials and raids. If ones only desire is to just do the story and dungeons then they can take their dear time as long as they want I was one of these players myself. But if someone wants to do all the content in the game , then a jump potion is needed to stay caught up with everyone else to do the latest raids or trails like this community doesnt hover around the same content aside from dungeons very long. So a potion would be an option for those who want to do the more challenging content in the gameI kinda know that jump potions are pretty much confirmed, even then, I just wanted to chip in my opinion as a new player.
I love taking my time leveling. I'm sure, that theres ALOT of players out there that are like me, that just wanna experience the game to its fullest, not just raiding. If you implement jump .
Not 100% confirmed, they said they would see and were interested in feedback.
Feedback has been, lets say mixed, and the game really doesn't need them. New players keep coming in and the vast majority of people who have done the story either liked it or at most didn't really mind it.
We are still probably getting them, but I hold some small hope that the idea will be dropped or at least significantly revised from what other regions have.
For folks suggesting that the OP should simply not use the Jump potion if they don't like the concept, I wholly agree - however, I don't think that's what the OP's main concern is. I'm guessing that they are afraid that by giving folks the option to skip the early content, it will be more difficult for players who don't skip to find parties to complete the storyline dungeons, and such.
To reassure the OP: thanks to Roulettes, this honestly isn't as wretched a situation as you might expect. The game consistently offers incentives for running low-level content, Roulettes being the main example but far from the only one. While it may, at times, take a half hour or more to get a party for old content, this is still amazing compared to older MMOs, where you could wind up spending real-life weeks trying to pull together a group to participate in older events. Both proceeding through the Main Scenario and leveling up your character likely will not be badly affected by a Jump potion. There ARE a few optional things that may as yet be frustratingly difficult to accomplish, such as large-scale FATEs - but even without Jump potions, finding enough people to run those is even now a problem. So that, too, is unlikely to change.
As like a 5 month player I really don't want jump potions either.
Jump potions aren't compulsory and they people will still be able to do old content. Most of the time in dungeons on the DF your running with max lvl players running roulettes already. The game also prioritizes so groups are formed first around people running a place for their first time.
The Jump potion is only for people who don't want to do that old content and want to skip. It isn't going to be for everyone.
