My ping did drop to ~40ms from 120ish, so it definitely benefited me. So selfishly I'm happy lol, but am concerned for others (within reasonable arguments, but if you went from 20 to 80.. yeh...). I feel we need more data to see if this was a general good or bad thing.
Some of the drama over the /smaller/ changes I'm having a hard time to commiserate with but people who went into the 200+ range I feel bad. Unfortunately it may be time to consider an EU server if you live in that region - although I don't think the NA server should be decided based on those who already have a server cluster / are not the target of a server cluster. It still is a bummer I understand though (am happy that SE prepared the the free transfers because of that). If you're already in the server cluster you belong to (NA), and your ping went from something nice like ~100 or lower to 200+.. damn..
When the server move (from Japan To Canada) first happened I went from 180 ms to... 180 ms lol, and it seemed over time and and perhaps SE side tweaks it dropped down to ~120. Don't recall my packet loss (it's currently 0 with the new server though), I do recall connection to SE related issues (other internet connections working and testing as expected) but like I said in another thread these topics can be a PIA because there are so many reasons why something could go wrong, like HG and other spells seem to be mechanic/coding based and not a server issue since it's very specifically them (but it "feels" like lag). Semi frequently in my experience with the other server PvP will turn into a slide show though (not FPS lag, but massive popping around - which I did test my connection to other stuff during).
I really don't know enough to make an educated should have would have for the location, but just want to caution people that while ping is a good number to look at its not the only one (like reliability and loss), and especially we should be careful with equidistant arguments since the underlying network might not give a damn about it (there is some element of "further away = not as good" but to use that as the baseline of understanding is dangerous, especially if you have a cursory understanding.. like me). I imagine an East and West coast server would be most optimal but it would be exciting to see which servers go where and all the fun associated with that, each move is like organizing a bunch cats that know they're going to get separated from their home and then spayed.

SE picked the right spot for servers. I'm sure they spent many moons planning this location. It's like Christmas in May and they chose this location just for me!
