Did it actually improve 50% of the data center's ping? I'd like to see those numbers, but then again 50% of the population now having worse ping isn't exactly a good thing. Not much anyone can do about it other than try vpns, though. Square-Enix isn't going to put out extra money for a more centralized data center location, it seems. A lot of game devs don't. Though the competition, World of Warcraft, does have data centers on both coasts AND CENTRAL. Hell, even The Old Republic does and that game's dead.

Bahamut comes down from the sky to rain hell on California and liberate the servers for the people that actually matter.

I don't know... CA has an economy larger than France and our tax revenue pays the bills for some of the poorer more backwards states. I am pretty sure we're really important!

First, this is a lie, east coast + some EU players = way more than 50% of the NA datacenter playerbase

But the half that improved are west coast, central + some AUS/NZ players.

I feel bad for South America right now though.
