With the PS3 gone, let's list our favourite graphical features we'd like for FFXIV!

Finally something that isn't about datacentres for you lil positive hunties out there.

Let's start by suggesting improvements in graphics SB might have:

    Better geometry maybe.

    Things I'd like to see:
    • High resolution textures
    • An easy depth of field solution i.e Tera
    • Anti-aliasing
    • Post processing in general, post processing options
    • Really easy physics based world interaction, i.e grass moving when you walk through it, it's really uncomfortable how it sort of sits there cutting into your leg.

The only really important ones are AA and HD textures though, the textures in this game are...

    • TXAA (Temporal Anti-aliasing) This one is a must have, it allows the game to go from a video game look, to a cinema look, removing all aliasing, shimmering, flickering, etc. at the cost of a bit of sharpness, that you can solve by supersampling the game in a higher resolution than your native one, and downscaling it to your native resolution, getting back all the sharpness you lost.
Best current use in Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront.
    • High resolution textures.
    • Dolby Atmos sound, to destroy the horizontal flat feel of the sound and expanded it vertically, above you, below you. Requires a Dolby Atmos room with lots of speakers everywhere.
Best current use in Star Wars Battlefront.
    • More polygons on playable characters, gear and weapons, with lots of Tesselation.

I think that shimmering / texture filtering needs some tweaking or support Antialiasing that works also on transparent textures.
Perhaps also remove some unnecessary loading between small city zones, if its no problem to PS4 to handle.

I tried to be modest in my additions but I see you have a lot of faith in the development team. These would be a dream come true, but honestly? Just hi-res textures for characters would be enough. Remember Yoshi said we'd get uncompressed character textures for 3.0? The hair is by far the worst offender. With the exception of the 1.0 hairstyles the hair looks like garbage/pixel vomit.

Well, I'm only suggesting these because from experience I know how insanely it can increase the immersive feeling of a game, and how those features feels like they were meant to be tailored for a MMO genre, and more specifically to FFXIV.

Why were minimum PC requirements raised for Stormblood expansion anyway? i did not see anything special in trailer

New cloth-like physics, shown in the samurai skills.
    More onscreen at once.

Hmm, that's probably about it. Less item culling is always nice though.

BC we are getting an extra inventory tab sis!! Keep up!!! Everyone knows that the requirements for every other game ever and FFXIV are SUPER different and for some reason more intensive.

In all serious I have no idea, looks like the zones might have slightly higher geometry.

Better flowing skirt, cloth, cape and so on physics.

To finally have them atrociously hideous and unwanted skin grafted sandals removed and be replaced by it being actually barefoot! What other reason than "PS3 limitations" is there (only joking here)? The half-baked excuses mentioned otherwise don't cut it, at all.

Textures that aren't from the PS1 for the bearskin rug.

Are adding less restrictions for character creation eligible? In that case, more than one facial feature and face paint option on at a time.
