Please people, do not brag about the one time u got orange percentile under echo in Creator with the rest of your non-echo percentiles in blue like we can't look up the percentiles in a new tab. Then the nerve to talk about mediocre performance. Stop. This argument actually hurts you more than helps.
For those that actually can get high orange percentiles, without echo, consistently (and/or those that go for speedkills and/or world prog), they will notice the effect of going from 50 to 100 or any more dramatic increase that takes them from low to over 100 ms. They will notice the slower activation of GCDs, the lack of double weave without clipping at all, the clipping in a Rapid Fire, the slowdown of activation of oGCDs, and the exacerbated effect of clipping when including Fey Wind in a rotation. They will notice the effect that slowdown has on fitting or not fitting in a gcd with 1 second left on an atk buff (whether personal buff or raid buff). They will notice on SMN (if they're doing an optimal opener and following rotation/priority system/whatever you wanna call it) the delay in double and even triple weave(in the case of a couple openers).
Some choosing to deal with high ping and being quiet about it doesn't mean those who now experience must do the same. It's a legit complaint when your ping doubles triples quadruples etc and you are unhappy with the direct effects it has on your performance. I know aiming to be highly skilled is frowned upon for some reason here but there are many dedicated people who want to push the envelope in the game in battle. And now the decision to move from one coast to the other instead of a central location has a significant effect on many of those who want to push.
If you play casually, or play just to clear and chill, or farm and not care about optimal perf, or speedkill, or world prog, then naturally the change won't really make a difference to you. Dungeons are what they are at this point and can be cleared easily with whatever ping. Normal mode raid the same. Maybe the new primals will be challenging but I remain cautious, as the response to challenging primals has always been make the next one easier.
But for those that want to push, it's a big deal.
