On the left is my friend. He lives in southern NJ and has to use Comcast (no other providers in his area). On the right is me. I live in northern DE and chose Verizon (Comcast is also available here). We both pinged the same address at the same time and got very, very different results. The geographic difference between our locations is negligible when we're pinging out to CA- but his times are almost double mine. How your ISP routes your information matters far more than your physical location if you're in NA connecting to a NA server. He's going to have to use WTFast or something similar to re-route the information to get his latency down to match mine despite us living just an hour and a half apart.

Also, we won't know for sure where they're going to be until they're live, so save the panic for when they're up and you can no longer dodge landslides in Titan EX. :P

saw this from NA thread about new server location and i see a lot of people going to quit just because their ping going above 150, some even quit because their ping reach 100

For someone who has been in this game for years with 200 ping, i feel no hindrance whatsoever, i can fight normally, even perform better than other sometimes, i can avoid red circle no problem, i didnt even feel lag at all, unless it went above 250ish.

190 ping is godsend for me, i guess thats what happen when 80% of online game is located in your country

All I know is, if, IF it is California, I'll be joining many of the people negativity impacted by this to a significant degree. I will withhold my complaints until it's officially online, but if it turns out to be California....you messed up bad Square Enix. Bad.

Anyone with even a basic understanding of the united States network infrastructure knows just how much of a circus it is, especially when funnelling a significant amount of traffic the exact same route.

Apparently to get from Colorado to Sacramento my ISP takes me through Dallas, Texas.

I think my ping is actually worse to this new data center, even though I physically live closer.

Posts like that are as believable as tearful Twitter goodbyes. They're being drama queens now, but when the servers are back up they'll be first in line to log in and will keep playing no matter their ping.

If they really enjoy the game I don't think they will care in the end. There are always going to be gripes with whatever you are playing.

There's going to be weird cases like this for a lot of people most likely.

All I know is, i will be REQUIRED to use WTFast now to raid, when I was previously pinging 68-70ms to the montreal servers. Just think about that for a minute.
