Well, I went from 260 ping to 180 ping (New Zealander here) So I don't plan to boycott. I finally don't have to pay extra money every month to play the same game as you guys. Especially since I don't expect an AU server any time soon, if ever.

Player

it kinda surprises me that there isnt an AU server. ive looked around and there seems to be a lot of Australians that play this game that have gripes about server locations.

A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

Are you going to buy the necessary property for them to run the servers from?
Because SE owns the necessary property to run the servers from in California so why wouldn't they use that instead of spending a lot more to buy new offices.honestly that sounds like the best decision really.
because of this move my ping has shot up to 170, and i'm still in the states. my girlfriend, who lives in the EU, now has to transfer out because of how unplayable it is.
i may as well quit until Square does something... IF they do something. its better than paying to play alone.
thanks for ruining everything Square. hope you enjoy your stupid vacation property that you just HAD to have instead of getting something in Central America where everyone would benefit. or, you know, having both east and west coast servers like every other friggin' mmo.

I'm all the way in Eastern Canada (Quebec. Montreal, actually, where the servers used to be) and I see zero difference. If anything, it's better now that I don't get lag spikes all the time...
"I'm OK. This rock broke my fall."

Now that comment made me genuinely curious as to what caused the lagspikes for you, as I didn't get all that many lagspikes before servers moved, and I am from New Zealand, especially since you were right next to the servers. Maybe the line connecting you to the local server was dodgy?
A change in server location means a change in how your connection to the server is routed. Lag spikes are, for the most part, caused by packet loss, which a lot of people who were routed through Level3 had to deal with. No longer routed through Level3, packet loss reduced, fewer lag spikes. Now that comment made me genuinely curious as to what caused the lagspikes for you, as I didn't get all that many lagspikes before servers moved, and I am from New Zealand, especially since you were right next to the servers. This is the single most stupid idea I have ever seen presented on this forum. Congratulations for at least being best at something.
B..but..Iromi, didn't you know, moving the servers to Sacramento automatically adds like 100ms to our pings unless we are in Cali, utterly breaking the game!! It's horrible...Playing from NYC and I've got a ping of 30 ms..lol that is more then fine. I'll be moving to Southern California soon anyway....but either way, boycotting isn't going to work :P However if people keep having issues and it goes on for a while...SE will most likely look into it. ^^![]()
...well not really. In truth, that 30ms ping from you, an east coast user, ought to be sufficient to get one and all who are whining a bout lengthy pings to stop whining about SE and go talk to their ISP about bad routing. It won't, of course, but it's proof, as if it were needed, that bad routing is the main issue people face.
