Maybe SE wanted to do some spring cleaning and attract more west coast players? ping before move on this side of the country was 130+ sometimes spiking to 180. Now it's between 30 and 50. How the tables turned. It will show the good players from the ones banking on sub 70ms... Just saying, some players have had above 100 ms and played just fine.

Or maybe, SE does not know putting artificial delays on things and putting high ping on top of that would annoy people.

I'm on east coast playing on balmung.. I've had 0 issues with lag. Rotations are just fine, movement is fine, getting out of aoes, no issues.. Sounds like it's more a routing issue than physical location on the user end. Not saying it's the players' fault for the lag, but it sounds like it's something on their end opposed to on the data center end

To be fair, Comcast is the largest provider on the East Coast and their routing IS pretty trash. I can knock it down below 100 for me using vpns, though.

What I am talking about also exists as low as 35 ping (from who I talk to) and the people that seem to understand are calling it "intentional delays" Why are they there? what purpose do they serve other then annoying people that can see them that happen to increase in problems as the ping increases for anything over 70 ms.

So I just checked my ping. 250-290. Game is still 100% perfectly playable, but then I never really experienced 0 ping so I have no idea what I've been missing~

You can't see if something responds slow? I saw it at 30 ms =.= =/

Yeah that can be improved with better coding, and I saw something like it today at 120 ms i think at the time? somewhere around 100-130

Well... I first started FFXIV on the PS3, so my biggest issue was dealing with lag (hence my response to the Titan gif. That was frustrating). Then the PS4 version came out and I got that and my latency 'improved' and then I got a gaming PC and noticed even less latency (or it was all a placebo).

Basically, the changes I noticed were based on the systems I've played FFXIV on. Once I got on the PC, my latency seemingly improved and I haven't had any issues with anything in game (save for the occasional hiccup when everyone starts port-running and my Sharpcast buff doesn't activate when I use it). I also mostly only play BLM and my oGCD's aren't as frequent as other Jobs.

If things like this happened more often, then I would be VERY annoyed (this is the Sharpcast not happening despite it going on cooldown). This happened during a surprise lag spike.

Ah, that's what you meant. Yeah, that's just something I've learned to adjust to. It's annoying, especially when I'm trying to get a Swiftcast Bliz IV down but instead start hardcasting it (not frequent), but it's something I've had since launch.

I have many complaints with FFXIV, but latency isn't that high as it's something I expect (Australian). What will always stay at the top of my complaint list is the fact we have to pay our sub/Mogstation purchases in EUR and not in AUD (12.99EUR is $19.44AUD). SE plz
