Some people I know say their pings went up, but that the game actually feels snappier. Could this be to better server infrastructure in CA?

I was kidding. Trying to counter all this MY PING WENT UP spam.
What can we do? You think it's cheap to transfer servers? Think we got time to make them change their mind before SB hits? 48 more hours of maintenance?
If they do move at some point, it won't be anytime soon.

This is a sad day indeed.
Anyone know if we can try to get this on the Letters to the Producers as a question? Would be nice to hear their throughts on this after all of us on the forum crying out.
I agree with the statements that even a more central USA one, some may have better/worse pings, but least no one would be super bitter about it since they know its more centralized. We on the east coast (Yes Beach here) and the north end of USA... just got hurt by this.

I imagine he would say something similar to what he said in response to the Diadem outcry:![]()
A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

Issue is, we were told centralized. Which in USA ever since the days of Diablo 1, Ultima Online etc... having "East and West" coast servers DID matter. So having one mid central as was told. Fine, we would all be in the middle. As an EU player on an NA world, I've had no major issues even after the server move. I really don't understand all this nonsense about how NA players suddenly can't weave their job skills because of the ping. Honestly, I've been weaving like nothing changed so if NA players much closer to the server (than EU ones on NA) are having issues, surely this is an internet problem and not a server one.
Or.... he might say this. (And I post this of course in Jest <3 Yoshi)

I'm not sure that players were ever told that the servers would be centrally located. Even the official post regarding the move only states that they would stay on NA soil, nothing about mid central.

To be honest, you sound more ignorant than selfish.I'm going to sound selfish here, but I don't care about complaints from EU players. They CHOSE to play outside of their region even though they have their own data center. NA data center should be about what is convenient for NA players, not EU players. You have your own data center for a reason.
Lots of us, EU players, started to play this game 7 years ago, where there was only JP Datacenter.
3 Years later they moved our worlds to an NA Datacenter.
Only recently they opened an EU Datacenter with new worlds.
When you have 7 years of friendship, memories, stories, LS, FC, Static, Houses, millions of gils, etc. you don't trade all this for a Datacenter.
On a side note, high ping would not be an issue in DPS if SE could accept to change their netcode, making the location of a Datacenter quite irrelevant as much as you don't have something above 250ms.
What we need, is a new way to handle communication between client and server, because weaving 3 oGCD during 2,5 sec with 0,2 sec ping without clipping GCD, is possible if you don't have to wait for the server permission everytime you trigger a skill.
The problem lies in the netcode. We could all enjoy the Datacenter we want, if they could modify the netcode. So this is what you want to rant about.

People should run tracert command instead of ping and see what kind of route you are doing to reach the destination.
Some people are reporting bizarre pathing like going to Amsterdan before reaching California. And no, the ISP can't fix this, tried to call then about this issue and there is nothing they can do about the connection path in international area.
Maybe if we get the bizarre pattern, they might get a fix on their side, making the game more stable.
