The game is a product. If it no longer satisfies people, they are well within their rights to complain or to refuse to pay for the product any further, or purchase any expansions.
We chose to stay on NA and play with people we know because it was working fine, and now it might no longer be the case. How does that make us at all entitled to expect good service from a product we pay for?

This. Just because some may be open to the idea of leaving their friends behind (if they had any at all) does not necessarily mean others are willing to throw their friendships away to transfer off.

Then increased ping is the price you pay for making that decision. Because you're playing on a data center that's not meant for your location.

SE doesn't owe you free playtime or transfers because you chose to ignore going over to your region. They made your servers local so you didn't have to connect to Montreal, and you made your choice. SE did not intentionally do this just to wrong you. Stop being entitled whiners.

On the other hand, Frankfurt is about as optimal as a location as it could have been to host the datacenter. Europe's infrastructure is much, MUCH better compared to the United States, in addition to it being in close to the most ideal location for the European playerbase as possible.

People are scared because the infrastructure in the United States is hot garbage in the first place, on top of the already notoriously unreliable routing that the majority of people have had side effects from in this game.

To add to this, even Global Players headquartered in the US, like Cogent, ate providing top service within Europe. However, once they hop from the router managing their transatlantic line across their datacenter and out of their own network, it often turns pear shaped.
