I would like to be able to toggle on and off the sholder of some armor sets with large poldrens such as the sky rat set as well as a some other sets I don't feel this will be to difficult to achieve since I've seen screens hots where they are hiden client side but if I'm wrong please let me know

This is actually something I'd be onboard with.
Cant see it happening, but I also share your love of pauldron-less equipment.

I'd love to have slight alterations available for key sets. I don't know if pauldron removal would be worthwhile as a universal toggle like helm display, but there are many, many sets that are ruined for me by that one or two things too many, too large, or too gaudy.

I agree 100% though it might be alot of work to make sepretly sets but if that's what it takes I'm game lol

It usually just tends to be the removal of some part that I'd image there is already a texture beneath, e.g. SE's butt-wing fetish on raid gear (Dreadwyrm caster and Alexander melee), the little hallow axe-heads / spoiler things on the Noct fending gear, the extra skirt fluff component on Conqueror's, etc. When it's just asset removal, I'd hope the process wouldn't cost much. That said, I see how essentially admitting that "to some players, this particular bit not only a waste of development, but also a detriment to the rest of the item/set" could leave a foul taste in SE's mouth, likely to the point where we'd never see anything like this.

This is one perk of being a Lalafell (since we don't have shoulders).

Do you want to lose an arm? Because that's how you lose an arm. Unlike in WoW, where spaulders and pauldrons are used for style, in FFXIV, tanks and dragoons (along with some other pieces on other Jobs) have these pieces of armor for the same reason we have them on real suits of armor, to protect the joint from attacks from the side, above, head-on, or behind.

So... no, I'm against this, sorry. If you want to look like a novice who is about to lose their arm, there are already plenty of options. Leave the realistic armor where it is.

Pauldrons kind of floated above the shoulder in real life too. Often there would be a surprising amount of room inside of one to accommodate for layers and movement. They usually rested on top of the shoulder and would be attached using small straps. Those straps probably don't look that great with the resolution the game works with, so SE likely removed them for aesthetics.
