Uhm. Do you truly think this attitude is going to encourage roleplayers who are bumped out they can't join Balmung to join Mateus?
I don't think CyrilLucifer honestly cares if roleplayers joined Mateus. But their point is directed at the suggestion of everyone having to pay for Balmung's extreme overpopulation. It's unfair to everyone else to have to monetarily pay for it.
Yes, exactly.
I don't care if you RP here! What you do in-game is your choice and it's not my place to interfere with that.
My argument is also that it's also unfair to make other players and other servers (as is the case of suggestion 7) pay with real life money for a problem you caused yourselves. If you read his last proposition, he's saying SE should close smaller servers so that they can put more money into larger ones.
I am vehemently against that, not against RPing on Mateus. Mateus has just as much right to exist as Balmung.
The server is full... it's way overpopulated. You can complain about it all you like but they aren't going to open it anytime soon. What they should do however is designate a couple servers as RP servers for the future growth of that meta which would be a good thing for those communities.
Personally? Designating multiple servers is not going to go well. It'd be essentially the same thing as when Balmung was open except for the part where they wouldn't be able to Transfer to Balmung. Not enough small groups in one large populous community so that those who have different styles of RP etc will be able to easily go to another one with the server or that when disagreements in the small, once strong group occurs that the server's rp community starts to collapse and things become stagnant for awhile. The server is full... it's way overpopulated. Uhm. Do you truly think the average player who enjoys the quiet of Mateus really wants to see an influx of RPers? We're here for a reason.
Jenova's much more your culture, if I may make a recommendation....
Only if the price increase affects the people that paid to transfer into the server, otherwise why should people that were natively placed there aka 1.0 players have to pay a higher sub? I also see you on balmung so you would be ok with paying a higher sub?
This made me laugh... like, a lot. It's like the people complaining don't have a fundamental understanding of why adding more people to the server is a problem. It's not just server processing power. You are running up against a fundamental flaw in all online games - how much data can be sent at a given time to X number of people and having it remain smooth. Not even considering varying ping times which adds more complexity. It's why they sometimes instance cities or start-up areas. They need to break it up into smaller chunks of data.
All the files required to render appearance are kept on your computer, and each area has a list of data that is always there like the buildings that's all pretty much stored on the computer as well. What isn't stored there are variables that can change based on what is happening in-game. Every character in the area adds new data which needs to be processed on every single computer in the instance, the devs try very hard to keep the amount of data that needs to move back and forth between the server and the players minimal, but they can't erase every character within a certain distance of yourself. They do try to lower it...you've seen the monsters appear magically as you get closer to an area in a swirl of purple, I assume.
But that data doesn't just magically appear it's stored in the instance on the server until you get close enough to render it. Every person and what they are doing in each instance is stored there and the closer they are together...like all standing around an aethernet hub in limsa doing the manderville or whatever, makes the amount of data being sent back and forth every second increase exponentially. Even if the computer can process 50 times that amount of data per second, it has to then send it to all of the people whose bubble is affected. More people, more data, more lag, eventually making it unplayable. You cannot put the whole world in one instance, it won't work.
