I just had a run yesterday that wasn't my greatest. My cast numbers were grossly low (the DRK healed more than me) but in my defence I was really tired! I still did about 18%
of the damage to Poisontongue. And no I'm not a high level player.

Yes. That what I was saying.
Contribution and effort are important on any party. And that must come from everyone, not just the healer or the tank or some DD. But, again, this discussion is laying all the weught on healer's shoulders and not saying anything how other players should give some effort too.
And on last case, what I'm trying to accomplish (in general) is some willpower to continue playing healer. Not done any party as RDM yet, but so far it is funnier than WHM. And topics like this is only giving me more strength to ditch healing completly. What I want is real numbers, not exagerated unrealistic numbers that will make me even more frustrated about being WHM.
Sorry, but you've done that. That number you said (20%) is not "often". Who does something like that are the DPS. The parses that Sebazy posted sounded to me more like a exception that confirms the rule than the rule itself. Once again: 10~15% is a great contribution and sure, makes difference. But 20% total contribution to damage from the healer is way too much and that number needs some context.
But agreed. DD DPS vs Healer DPS shoudn't be an discussion.
I'll definitely concede that my numbers aren't something that should be expected from people. Vanille's log above is likely a far more reasonable standard of play.
Here's a trace of the entire Skalla Van mentioned (Hope you don't mind, let me know if you object and I'll remove the link)
That's still a very solid effort from everyone in the group IMHO (you have my eCommendation for the WHM melee btw, every bit counts!) and I'd be absolutely delighted if I got a group pulling those numbers on solo queue. It's not quite 20% contribution but it's decently close.

Because I don't advocate the abuse for ever healer that gets dished out and I think people should play the way they want to with their own class, I'm a Forum Princess Healer. I take that title with pride.![]()
You're a unicorn too. Congrats. Have a cookie.
Nuhuh, I'm a Lala, silly.
The RDM who raised you, twice no less is the real unicorn here
Just incase you're not understanding what I'm saying here:
Here's a Rabanastre with 21 RDM Veraises and 7 SMN Resses.
Here's one with 7 RDM Veraises and a staggering 49 SMN Resses
This isn't limited to 24 man content either, I'm not going to start linking your EX stuff as that's taking it a bit far, but I can assure you that you have in-fact been pipped to the punch for raises on multiple occasions.
Please consider that it's not a case of these people aren't helping. Rather that you simply aren't noticing it when it happens for whatever reason.

See, the thing is, no one really cares if you aren't good at FFXV for example, because it's a single player game.
But this is an MMO where you are playing with other REAL people, which means your actions affect others, poor performance can potentially degrade the experience of others and that's not okay.
Also, if you are fine being a "forum princess healer", why are you taking part in this discussion anymore?
Another fine case "forum princess healers" miss on. Anyone can get away with anything for easy content, such as four man dungeons. When it comes to harder content you're offered a Hobson's choice. Just like you they decide how they play and who to play with. A group is a group when they collaborate towards a common goal. Don't be surprised if the group decides to oust the healer for not putting in the same effort or unwilling to adapt.
Inb4 being called an elitist, forum bully, or troll: It's hardly the case about calling those kind of healers as bad healers. It's about advocating and preparing newer players or those new to the role towards the expectation. An expectation set by the meta the community has decided on. If you want to rid the game of said meta you'd better start convincing the whole community sustained with arguments by logos, rather than pathos. Till then, you're simply setting a bad example and not prepare aforementioned for the harder content.
Lastly, it's hardly "abuse" as you call it. It's called equivalent effort from every member of the party.
People play to have fun. They do whatever is fun to them. I don't understand how its ok for others to tell people how to play. If you don't like that. Don't run randoms, run with a guild or friends. Problem solved.
