PIE helps the added DoT from Aero (which seems to be pretty nice from my experience) and the Magic Evasion down from Stone land. It also makes you resist spells/enfeebles slightly more often, of course HP/MP/VIT would probably be perfectly fine too, but I personally think PIE is very useful since I like to keep at the very least the DoT on enemies at all times. I do also think the Boarskin Ringband of X is up to your discretion since the +3 elemental potency is quite small, and, like you said, Water doesn't help Cures.
I've actually been curious about Repose, I read somewhere that it was a Water spell. I should test it out with a wand of tides and see if it does anything.
Honestly, there is very little you can do wrong when gearing up your CNJ/THM as most gear you can use at high levels will have beneficial stats or in some cases you only have 1-2 options in a slot. Materia is mostly up to how you want to play, CNJ can easily go either nuking or healing or balanced, switching off head/mainhand/accessories for whatever the situation calls for. We're getting WHM armor eventually and I figured that would be covering healing stats, so I've been worrying more about my nuking pieces.
