physical location doesn't matter as much if the infrastructure isn't there to support it. Cali has that which is why they moved there. for people in NA this should only improve things on the whole for pretty much everyone people playing outside of NA don't really matter as much.

For me is good since I'm in California, but I hope what you say is true that it will be better for all in the long run. I can't tell yet if people are just exaggerating on their bad results while in North America.

California having more reliable infrastructure than anywhere else is a fallacy. In fact, none of the Top 5 largest data centers in the US are located in California. The largest are in Oregon, Utah, Illinois, Virginia, and Vegas. From that list, Illinois(Chicago) would be the clear winner if SE was actually concerned about providing a quality service for as many users as possible.

The decision to host in Sacramento was purely and entirely a business decision by executives who know nothing about how the internet works and only saw an opportunity to partner with another Japanese company(NTT) who probably cut them a good deal that ended up being cheaper than the previous host. I feel bad for Yoshi-P and crew, because they are going to catch so much flak for this decision that was more than likely made by Execs who give no fucks and who have nothing to do with XIV other than reading how much money it made them every quarterly financial report.
